Here is my Aggies Broncos free pick: I’m laying Boise State -20.5. Three TD’s is a healthy number, but Utah State has scored only 52 points through four games. When an underdog has that kind of scoring ceiling, a big spread becomes considerably less intimidating.
Boise State doesn’t need to hang 50 here. Get into the mid-30’s, establish control and make Utah State find enough offense to stay within three scores. That’s the part of this bet I have trouble seeing from the Aggies.
Twenty and a hook looks enormous until the underdog starts making 17 points feel ambitious.
The game state also favors the favorite. If Boise State gets Utah State chasing early, the Broncos can keep leaning on their running game and turn the second half into a long night for an Aggies defense that has to keep returning to the field.
That’s my betting argument: the number is big, but Utah State’s limited scoring gives Boise State more room to cover it than the spread initially suggests. I see the Broncos gradually creating separation on the blue turf rather than needing some ridiculous offensive explosion to get us paid. Give me Boise State -20.5.
