Tigers vs. Wildcats Gameday
The No. 10 LSU Tigers visit the No. 25 Kentucky Wildcats at Kroger Field in Lexington on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on ESPN.
LSU enters 4-1 under first-year coach Lane Kiffin, with a 1-1 SEC record.
Kentucky is also 4-1 under first-year coach Will Stein and sits 2-1 in conference play. The Wildcats have won three consecutive games and have a chance to make a national statement. Lexington should be loud, although the crowd can’t help much when somebody misses a tackle.
LSU brings top-10 expectations into a stadium where Kentucky has repeatedly made the Tigers uncomfortable.
Kentucky won the last meeting 42-21 in Lexington in 2021. The Wildcats also defeated LSU 43-37 in triple overtime during the Tigers’ previous visit in 2007.
LSU leads the all-time series 39-16.
The Tigers haven’t won in Lexington since the Bluegrass Miracle in 2002. That’s quite a drought for a program accustomed to winning big games.
Both teams have legitimate conference ambitions. LSU wants to remain in the playoff conversation, while Kentucky can prove its strong start is more than a pleasant September surprise.
It’s Week 6, LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats, hopefully we get a great matchup.

LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats Odds & Last 5
LSU opened as an 8.5-point favorite at -342 on the moneyline, with Kentucky priced at +270. The opening total was 54.5 points.
The Tigers demolished McNeese 63-14 last Saturday.
LSU generated 731 total yards in that victory, the second-highest single-game total in school history. The Tigers previously defeated Texas A&M 35-6 after losing 32-24 at Ole Miss.
Kentucky escaped South Carolina with a 35-34 overtime victory after overcoming a 17-point deficit. Kenny Minchey completed the winning two-point conversion to Willie Rodriguez. Apparently, a routine victory would have been too boring.
The Wildcats previously defeated South Alabama and Texas A&M after suffering their only loss against Alabama.
LSU has scored 115 points across its last two games. Kentucky’s recent contests have been considerably tighter, although the Wildcats have shown they can survive difficult situations.
Compare the opening total with the number at your preferred sportsbooks. The line has moved lower, making the original 54.5 more attractive for an under bettor. Unfortunately, bookmakers don’t keep yesterday’s prices around as a personal favor.

Wildcats Stats
Kentucky has scored 173 points through five games, generating 1,148 passing yards and 940 rushing yards. The Wildcats have enough offensive variety to challenge defenses in several ways.
CJ Baxter leads the ground game with 361 rushing yards and six TD’s.
Jason Patterson has added 355 rushing yards, giving Kentucky another dependable option. Kenny Darby leads the receivers with 25 catches for 322 yards and three TD’s. His ability to find space has made him a valuable target in Stein’s offense.
Kentucky has enough offensive talent to compete, but its defense has been considerably less dependable.
The Wildcats have allowed 134 points while recording 10 sacks. They’ve also produced six interceptions and four fumble recoveries, showing they can punish careless opponents.
Getting off the field remains a problem.
Kentucky has allowed opponents to convert nearly 46% of their third-down attempts. That leaves the defense spending too much time chasing receivers and tackling ball carriers, neither of which improves with exhaustion.
The Wildcats are dealing with significant defensive injuries. Linebackers Alex Afari Jr., Tavion Wallace and Antwan Smith are unavailable, while defensive lineman Kalen Edwards has also been ruled out. Running back Jordan Colbert has been cleared, and receiver DJ Miller is no longer on the injury report.
Tigers Stats
LSU has scored 218 points through five games, averaging nearly 44 per contest. The Tigers have accumulated 1,550 passing yards and 1,204 rushing yards, giving Kiffin a productive offense on both fronts.
Dilin Jones leads the rushing attack with 427 yards and five TD’s.
Harlem Berry and Stacy Gage provide additional backfield depth. That rotation gives LSU flexibility without abandoning its ground attack.
LSU has been even more impressive defensively, allowing approximately 221 total yards per game. The Tigers have recorded 22 sacks and rank among the nation’s leaders against the run.
Princewill Umanmielen leads the country with eight sacks.
His ability to disrupt the pocket creates problems without requiring LSU to send extra defenders. Opposing offensive tackles probably have more enjoyable plans for Saturday night.
The injury list includes linebacker Whit Weeks, tight end Trey’Dez Green, safety Dashawn Spears, linebacker Charles Ross II and receiver Phillip Wright III. All are unavailable for this matchup. Those absences test LSU’s depth, particularly against an opponent capable of attacking several areas of the field.
Tigers vs. Wildcats QB Matchup
Kentucky starts Kenny Minchey, who has thrown for 1,148 yards, 11 TD’s and one interception through five games. His efficiency has helped the Wildcats establish a more reliable passing attack.
Minchey has attempted 142 passes this season.
His ability to distribute the football keeps multiple receivers involved. Callum Wither provides depth behind him, although his playing time has been extremely limited.
LSU counters with Sam Leavitt, who has thrown for 1,220 yards, eight TD’s and seven interceptions. The production is impressive, but the turnover total is an obvious concern. Kiffin would probably appreciate fewer passes finding the wrong uniform.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Leavitt has completed 92 of 139 passes through five games.
Against McNeese, he finished 18-of-23 for 176 yards and three TD’s, along with an interception. His accuracy was encouraging, although the turnover issue hasn’t disappeared.
Landen Clark has contributed 235 passing yards and one TD without an interception in reserve duty. Husan Longstreet also provides depth behind Leavitt.
Minchey has been the more careful passer, while Leavitt operates LSU’s more aggressive attack. Kentucky will look to capitalize on careless decisions, and LSU’s defensive front presents Minchey with a difficult protection assignment. Neither QB can afford to turn routine possessions into unnecessary adventures.
LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats bottom line: LSU’s defensive strength and offensive firepower meet a confident Kentucky team that has shown it can survive difficult conference games.

Tigers Wildcats Free Pick: Under 54.5
Here is my Tigers Wildcats free pick: Under 54.5. I’m not betting that two SEC offenses suddenly forget how to score. I’m betting that the opening total asks for more sustained scoring than this matchup needs to produce.
The key is Kentucky’s ability to stay competitive without turning every possession into a touchdown. A close game can still stay under when drives consume time and neither side consistently finishes with seven points.
That makes third-down execution more important than the occasional spectacular play.
I’m taking the opening total because sustained drives and selective scoring can keep this game comfortably below 55.
The obvious danger is a defensive touchdown or a short field that hands somebody seven cheap points. That’s how a perfectly respectable under becomes an expensive lesson in watching linebackers chase interceptions. I’d prefer the scoring to require actual offensive work.
There’s also a game-state advantage if LSU gets ahead. Kentucky would need to manufacture points against a defense that can make long possessions difficult, and chasing a deficit doesn’t automatically mean scoring quickly.
A 30-20 finish would cash this ticket without either offense looking particularly bad. That’s the kind of game I’m buying at the original number, not some fantasy where both teams suddenly discover the forward pass is illegal. Give me Under 54.5.
