Week 7 NCAA football action brings you a non conference game that should be a pretty lopsided affair between UMass and LA Tech.
The Minutemen come into this game after getting shelled on the road to FIU, 44-0.
They are still looking for their first road win in 2019, but I think that will have to wait at least one more week as the Bulldogs are sitting at the top of the C-USA West division with a 2-0 conference record, coming off of a 23-20 win at Rice last time out.
This will be only the second meeting between these two schools on the gridiron.
UMass Minutemen
The beauty of being one of the Independents in college football is not having to worry about another team sneaking up on you in the standings, or in the case of UMass, you don’t have to worry about how many games back you are when you start your season 1-4.

Fact of the matter is, the Minutemen will lose this game as well. They just aren’t a good football team. So far this season they’ve gotten blown out by the likes of Rutgers, Southern Illinois, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina. As well as that Florida International debacle I spoke of earlier.
Offensively this team can’t score a TD with the defense taking the play off. Well, that’s not really accurate, they are averaging 20.5 points per game this year.
But that’s only 20.5 points a game to teams that are giving up an average of 38.64 points per game, which doesn’t bode well with them facing a pretty stingy Bulldogs defense (23.4 pts per game).
Defensively the Minutemen are even worse. Giving up an average of 46.7 points per contest, their average margin of defeat is 26.2 points heading into Saturday where they are sitting at +32.
The key for UMass win is to hope that the LA Tech team comes down with something serious enough for them to have to forfeit this game. No joke.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have had a full week to contemplate their way too narrow win over Rice last time out. Rice is a team that is on par with UMass this season, so LA Tech needs to not play down to their opponent again in this game.

The Bulldog offense isn’t going to wow anybody week in and week out, but their 27 points a game has been good enough to garner them a 4-1 record to start their season.
To put things into perspective a little more for you, the Bulldogs beat FIU 43-31. This is the same team that UMass just lost to 44-0.
Yes LA Tech gave up 31 points to them, but that is to be expected when a team averages 26.6 points per game in a shoot out.
Though the Bulldog defense gave up 338 yards to the winless Owls in their last game, I don’t think it’s too much to worry about for this upcoming game.
They’ve had an entire week off to watch tape on UMass, and to get their run defense back on track.
The key to LA Tech winning this game is to stay strong, and not dumb down to their opponents level.
They dodged a bullet in their last game against Rice, but if they lose this game, they will be in some real trouble I think.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Pick
This won’t be much of a game at all I don’t think. The Bulldogs are the better team on the field and on paper, and it will show on Saturday night.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: OVER the Number
The spread is a bit too high for me to take either side on, but I think this one will eclipse 61 points. Take LA Tech to win this one at home in a blow out.
