The Temple Owls have already secured their 5th-straight winning season at 7 – 4, and they’ll get the chance to find an 8th win of the year when they host UConn on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Huskies arrive at their final game of 2019 at 2 – 9, and I will be the first to admit that I have the UConn team total Under 2.5 games futures bet on the brink of cashing. This year’s UConn team wasn’t expected to offer us much of a change from last year’s 1- 11 campaign, and well, they didn’t.
This will be UConn’s last game in the AAC, and isn’t it ironic that they will join the Independent thingamabob that is full of oddness in 2020. Teams like New Mexico State and Liberty with UMass and now UConn too?

UConn Huskies
Holy shit, is the sky falling or do we need a complete conference full of shit teams? Notre Dame is doing what here again?
I think the best quote in the history of NCAA football quotes came from Edsall and his comments in the Journal Enquirer about the move from the AAC to Independent. “The Huskies’ losing streak aside, Edsall believes the AAC is in an impossible position nationally to compete for championships.”
Uh, hey coach?
YOU HAVE WON NO MORE THAN 3 GAMES IN 4 YEARS!! Worry about something else than the offers the AAC has for your CHAMPIONSHIP RUN! LOL, I mean what the f**k is that? We can’t win a title here? Wait, excuse me sir but you can’t win football games… PERIOD, here or anywhere for that matter.
I have no stats for you people because the UConn season has been another disaster that followed up the last disaster which followed up the disaster before that and then there was that other disaster too!
Let’s look towards 2020 because that’s all that is left to do this year.
Freshman QB Jack Zergiotis showed his skills might be worth building on, and his 1,532 passing yards showed some positives to go with the 5 to 8 TD to INT ratio that isn’t so positive. Jack has no ability to use his mobility so the gravity of the situ is he has no influence in the run game at all. That is a liability in this day and age when your offense is struggling as UConn’s is, so the signal-caller job has got to be an open race for 2020.

Temple Owls
The Owls had a great chance to be carrying a 3-game win streak into the final regular-season game, but a 15 – 13 loss to Cincinnati last weekend leaves them with a guaranteed 3rd place finish in the AAC East standings.
With bowl eligibility well in hand, the goal is to stay healthy and closeout UConn with a home win to ensure an 8-win 2019 campaign. It is has got to be difficult to get up for this game, however, as you just played the 7 – 0 Bearcats who are going to the ACC title game last weekend, and you land UConn the next game.
When you are favored by 4 TDs and coming off an emotional game that Temple really could have won, that makes this a tougher game to cap with emotions not even close to what they were last weekend.
This is where 1st-year head coach Rod Carey has to learn to keep his kids motivated to just go out do your job, finish the season, and wait to see what bowl game we land in and it’s as simple as that really.
The Owls have to work on their passing offense even more now headed to the bowl game. They already rank 49th in the nation with the pass putting 255.1 ypg, and there is nothing they can do to change the 101st ranked rush attack that really has been ineffective at times.
Work on what you do well is my theory because UConn will not be able to slow down Temple if they just go out and run their offense.
Anthony Russo has run the offense well enough and he has his favorite target Jadan Blue on pace for a 1,000-yard receiving season. Blue needs only 77 yards to topple the magic number, and we surely know that Davis and Gardner will both be toting the rock for chunks of yards at a time.
