Despite having only been able to play 3 games so far this season, this Cougars team has shown some real positives, and now will look to take down the UCF Knights as slight underdogs this Saturday.
UCF sits at 3-2 and although they have a pretty bad defense they have an offense that makes up for it, as it seems like they score 50 points in every game and it would not surprise me if they get close to that mark in this one.
With that said the Houston Cougars should also be able to put up a solid total on offense and therefore this could be the exciting shootout that Vegas is expecting with the current posted total of 81.5.
UCF Knights
A 27-0 2nd quarter propelled the Knights to a big victory over Tulane last time out and with this team rolling there is no reason to think they can’t do it again on Saturday. A big reason for this team looking so good on the offensive side of things is the play of their QB Dillon Gabriel who already has close to 2000 yards passing and a 19-2 TD/INT ratio.
To go with the play of their QB, it must also be said that senior wide-out Marlon Williams has been fantastic amassing over 750 yards in just 5 games. Look for him to once again play a big part in the game on Saturday, as I doubt the Cougars will be able to effectively cover him.
Houston Cougars
The Cougars coaching staff must be liking a lot of the things they are seeing out of this team and with the momentum built off their last win against Navy they should come into this game rolling and will present a tough challenge for the Knights.
I think one of the best parts of this Cougars team is the play of Clayton Tune who appears to have taken a jump in terms of his development based on his play in the first 3 games of the season. Look for him to have plenty of success here on Saturday against a basically non-existent UCF defense and possibly throw for over 400 yards if this one stays competitive.
