Navy returns home desperate to stop its slide against a Tulsa team trying to regain early momentum.
The Midshipmen lead the all-time series 9-2, including a 3-2 advantage in Annapolis. Navy won last season’s meeting 42-23.
Tulsa has shown more offensive consistency, while Navy hopes familiar surroundings can help reverse its recent results.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane vs. Navy Midshipmen Odds & Last 5
Navy opened as a 2.5-point favorite at -136 on the moneyline, with Tulsa priced at +112. The opening total is 48.5 points.
Tulsa lost a 45-44 overtime thriller against North Texas after falling 34-6 at Arkansas.
Before those defeats, the Hurricane beat Oklahoma State 24-10, Sam Houston 23-17 and East Texas A&M 42-0. It’s been quite a range of performances. Consistency apparently wasn’t included in the early-season package.
Navy fell 14-9 at Air Force last weekend. Earlier defeats came against UAB and Florida Atlantic, following a 42-15 season-opening victory over Towson.
The Midshipmen have lost three straight games by single-digit margins.
Their record isn’t pretty, but they’ve remained competitive. With such a short spread, compare prices at your preferred sportsbooks. There’s no prize for voluntarily laying a worse number.

Midshipmen Stats
Navy has rushed for 1,107 yards through four games, averaging nearly 278 per contest. The Midshipmen rank fifth nationally in rushing offense.
Michael Barrow and Vic Listorti have contributed to a backfield that spreads carries across several players.
Navy has converted eight of 10 fourth-down attempts. That aggressive approach helps sustain drives, although it occasionally gives defensive coordinators an extra headache.
Navy’s option attack punishes missed assignments, especially when defenders start chasing the wrong ball carrier.
Defensively, the Midshipmen have recorded 10 sacks and three interceptions.
Navy has also scored on all 10 red-zone possessions, producing seven TD’s and three FG’s. Finishing drives hasn’t been the problem. Creating enough of those opportunities has been tougher.
The Midshipmen need sharper execution and fewer wasted possessions after struggling to finish close games.
Golden Hurricane Stats
Tulsa has scored 139 points through five games, generating 904 passing yards and 876 rushing yards. The Hurricane have collected 90 first downs.
Damari Alston leads the ground attack with 292 rushing yards and five TD’s.
Oran Singleton Jr. has 306 receiving yards and two TD’s. He’s emerged as Tulsa’s most dependable receiving threat, particularly when the offense needs a difficult conversion.
Defensively, Tulsa has allowed 106 points while recording 14 sacks. The Hurricane have also produced 10 takeaways, giving their offense valuable extra opportunities.
Thomas Davis and Kyran Duhon lead the pass rush with four sacks apiece.
Linebacker Chris Thompson Jr. has collected 49 tackles, while Dax Collins has added 39. Tulsa’s defensive front has shown it can disrupt plays. The challenge is maintaining that discipline against an offense built around deception.
Golden Hurricane vs. Midshipmen QB Matchup
Navy relies on Jackson Gutierrez, who has thrown for 344 yards and three TD’s without an interception. His value extends beyond the passing game.
Gutierrez rushed for 134 yards and a TD in his first career start against Florida Atlantic.
His option reads force defenders to account for multiple rushing threats. Braxton Woodson has also seen action, throwing for 71 yards with one interception.
Tulsa counters with Baylor Hayes, who has completed 58 of 96 passes for 564 yards, four TD’s and one interception. Hayes returned from injury against North Texas.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
He accounted for five TD’s in that game, throwing three and rushing for two.
That’s an encouraging performance for a QB who missed the previous two contests. Dexter Williams II provides depth, having thrown for 340 yards and three TD’s without an interception. Tulsa has a capable alternative if Hayes encounters another setback.
Gutierrez is most dangerous when directing Navy’s option, while Hayes gives Tulsa a more conventional passing threat. Neither defense can afford to ignore the QB’s mobility.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane vs. Navy Midshipmen bottom line: Navy’s rushing discipline faces a Tulsa defense capable of creating disruption, setting up a competitive conference matchup.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane vs. Navy Midshipmen Football Betting Trends

- Also, the Golden Hurricane have gone over the total in 9 of their last 16 games after a loss.
- The Midshipmen are 7-0 straight up in their last 7 home games.
- Additionally, Navy is 15-3 straight up as a favorite in their last 18 games.

Golden Hurricane Midshipmen Free Pick: Navy -2.5
Here is my Golden Hurricane Midshipmen free pick: Navy -2.5. Neither team has been lighting up the conference, but Navy only needs to win by a FG. I’m comfortable asking that much from the Midshipmen at home.
The key is making Tulsa defend long possessions without surrendering a quick answer. Navy doesn’t need explosive passing numbers when it can shorten the game and make every possession count.
And there’s a useful wrinkle here: Tulsa has been excellent on fourth down.
That makes this tougher than the records suggest, but those conversions become considerably harder when the defense anticipates the run. Navy needs to win those critical downs, not necessarily dominate every snap.
I’m backing Navy to control enough possessions and finish enough drives to cover this short spread.
The danger is turnovers. Tulsa has the defensive playmakers to steal a possession, and a short favorite doesn’t leave much room for stupidity. One careless pitch could make this an unnecessarily expensive afternoon.
Still, I prefer Navy’s approach in a tight home game. The Midshipmen can win without asking their QB to throw 35 times, which is usually a sensible arrangement in Annapolis. Give me Navy -2.5.
