When these teams used to play it was a contrast in styles. Now, with TCU going all in on offense it is just a case of who can do it better. I liked it better the other way but this is entertaining too.
TCU is happy to be at home after a bad road loss to West Virginia. I am not where they really are in the B12 pecking order.

I know the throw it all the time philosophy makes this program competitive but you have to wonder if they are getting tired of losing relevance every October.
Tech has lost three in a row and their only conference win is against lowly Kansas. They might not get another one.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Red Raiders are looking to prove that winning football is about about defense.
The problem is they are doing it by proving that being the top passing and yardage team, and second in the nation in scoring…and being just 3-4. Last week they gave up 854 yards and 66 points to Oklahoma.
They also had 854 yards of offense but came up a touchdown short.
In the loss Pat Mahomes threw for 734 yards, that is a good month for some teams and he is putting up some awesome numbers this season.

Given that they are in a major conference and in the state Texas you would think the Red Raiders would be able to recruit some players that are inclined to play defense every once in a while.
I have to think that if the Red Raiders are not able to play better down the stretch and get into a bowl game era the Kliff Kingsbury era may come to a close.
Don’t fret ladies I am sure he will get an OC job at Oklahoma or Cal or something.
TCU Horned Frogs
Coming into the season I liked TCU as a sleeper in the B12.
The offense was going to take a hit but the defense was going to be much more TCU like, more than making up for the difference.
The offense has taken a hit as expected but is still scoring more than enough points to win, however, the defense has not made that jump.
Putting the Horned Frogs in shootouts that they are not always equipped to win.
They are just 2-2 in the league making a title push seem very unlikely.

Kenny Hill has been OK but but not great as a replacement for Trevone Boykin.
I think the staff might have underestimated how much the threat of the QB run has been a factor in the TCU offensive success over the last couple of season.
They run the ball with Kyle Hicks but that elusiveness and ability to hit big plays with the QB legs is missing this year.
It is no knock on Hill, he is just not the same kind of athlete.

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Prediction
The last time TCU played TT at home they won 82-27. If that number is figuring into computer projections than I understand why the Horned Frogs are such heavy favourites.
In the real world that numbers seems a little too generour to the home team.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Texas Tech +9.5
Tech is going to do what it always does.
They are going to throw ball all around the field and hope it works. It will in this one, not enough to get the road upset but enough to keep it close and certainly to sneak inside the backdoor.
TCU has been a frustration all season long. I keep thinking that defense is going to be good and it isn’t.
