Colorado was impressive last week cooling off hot Colorado State in a classic regional rivalry. The jury is out but perhaps this team is not gutted as much as we thought.
Texas State got a win last week but it was hardly a command performance against Houston Baptist. They are not expected to be among the elite in the Sun Belt and just look at that line.
Texas State Bobcats
I don’t want to be too harsh on the Bobcats, who most see as the worst team in a not so great Sun Belt. It just doesn’t look good when you don’t cover against FCS teams, especially at home.

QB Damian Williams is a transfer from Mississippi State and the Texas State coaching staff has big hopes for him. His debut was lacking and if he does not pick it up he might lose his chance to younger developmental players.
Freshman Anthony Smith was the best player on the field for Texas State.
They might have to give him more touches if he is a difference maker. We will know more after we see how he does this week against a real team in Colorado.
Colorado Buffaloes
I have to admit I was in the camp of those that thought Colorado State might upset the Buffs last week.

Not only did Colorado win and cover but they shutdown an offense might be among the best in the MWC.
Though it was not a shock that the Buffs won it was surprising that they were not able to put more points on the board.
Stephen Montez threw two interceptions and he is going to need to tighten up his play.
The defense also picked off two passes though so the secondary may not be as bare as once thought. They will not be really challenged this week.

Fantasy players might want to target Philip Lindsay who should run all day.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Pick
The Buffaloes have yet to have a patsy on their schedule and the Bobcats have not faced real competition. That makes calling this one a little more difficult even though they both have a game under their belt.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Colorado -35.5
Even though this huge number makes me nervous because Colorado is not the most dynamic offensive team the Buffs should be able to do what they want in this matchup. They need to get things moving in a hurry though.
Texas State is likely to keep plodding along in this one regardless of the score which makes me nervous about backdoor covers.
The Colorado program is not as deep at others in the Power 5.
