Another edition of the Red River Shootout takes place Saturday as the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners meet at noon.
The series that always consists of trick plays and bitter fights will be almost as even as possible here as both teams enter 2-2 on the season.
Texas head coach Charlie Strong enters play here knowing a lot is on the line.
Rumors have been swirling here early this week that Charlie Strong could be coaching for his job here in the rivalry game. Back to back losses to California and Oklahoma State have the Longhorns at just 2-2 as the program has been at a decline over the past few seasons under Strong.
However, there is one thing to note in terms of the Longhorns performance. They struggled last year heading into the Red River Shootout and upset the Sooners 24-17 in a game that featured many trick plays from an offense that was struggling.
This year, the offense is having no issues with scoring, it’s the defense that has been a struggle.
They’ve allowed 99 points in back to back losses, as they’ve scored 74 combined, which should have been enough to secure both wins.
Expect Texas to really stack the box and blitz on almost every play as they need something to help out their weak secondary. Forcing some quick passes, could help the secondary jump routes and cause turnovers.
#22 Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma is 2-2 on the season, but they don’t deserve to be bashed for their early .500 start.
The Sooners have lost to Houston and Ohio State, both of which are top teams in the nation. The Sooners do have an impressive win under their belts after knocking off TCU in a crazy 52-46 road victory.
Oklahoma finally saw the Baker Mayfield they’ve been waiting for, as he tossed for 274 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the ground, Oklahoma added 5 other TDS while rumbling for 260 yards.
The offense hitting their stride couldn’t have came at a better time, as the Longhorns defense has been one of the worst in the nation.
Defensively, Oklahoma has allowed just 2.2 yards per carry for the opposition. Texas likes to sling the ball down field, so expect Oklahoma to try and force them to use their run game, as that will play in favor to the Sooners defensive front.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Prediction
This game is going to be a high scoring one.
Texas is the main cause for that as their defense is going to get torched by Mayfield, but their offense has looked good this year.
