Texas A&M Aggies Handicapping
Both seasons, implosions/a tougher second-half schedule led to Texas A&M finishing only 8-5. The Aggies almost seem to embrace this perennial “wild-card” status.
It will be interesting to see how they perform in the 2016 SEC West division.
Texas A&M Aggies Predictions: Team Strengths
Years of impressive recruiting means that the Aggies have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball.
Trevor Knight steps in at QB, as a transfer from Oklahoma, to start at a position that has strangely been a revolving door for A&M.
Kenny Hill, Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray were all highly-touted recruits out of high school, all had shots at starting (Allen was even a Heisman Trophy candidate at one point) – and then all transferred.

Without speculating as to what happened there, Knight will be expected to step in and run the offense with aplomb; he has almost 3,500 career pass yards for the Sooners.
It will help Knight that the Aggies are absolutely stacked at WR. Texas A&M have cleaned up recruiting this position for several years now, and senior Edward Pope, junior Speedy Noil, JUCO transfers Damion Ratley and Josh Reynolds, dynamic sophomore Christian Kirk and huge senior Ricky Seals-Jones (6″5, 240 lbs at WR!) are the spoils.
If that sounds like a lot of names, it is. Knight will have no shortage of weapons to rack up points this season.
On defense, there is talent and the unquestioned star is DE Myles Garrett, who had 12.5 sacks as a sophomore last year. He’ll look for an encore campaign, and then some, as an upperclassman.

Leading tackler and starting SS Armani Watts is also back. He’ll pair in the secondary with CB Donovan Wilson, who had five INTs a year ago.
Texas A&M Aggies Predictions: Team Weaknesses
There has been some controversy surrounding this team. Offensive line coach Jim Turner, formerly of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, has been suspended for derogatory sexual humor.
Whatever one’s stance is on this kind of thing, Aggies fans must hope that this won’t be a distraction in what is already a murderously tough division and conference.
There isn’t any time for distractions with Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss in your midst.
The Aggies will also be breaking in a new special teams unit, with sophomore Daniel LaCamera at kicker and highly-touted freshman Braden Mann likely handling the punting duties.
Mann was first-team All-Texas last year in high school, so he should settle in. A&M also has two new starters on the interior of the D-line, in sophomores Kingsley Keke and Daylon Mack (perfect NFL nose tackle size at 6″1, 335-lbs).
They only have to be competent, with QB terrors Garrett and Daeshon Hall on the outside.
Texas A&M Aggies 2016 Prediction: 9-3
I am a believer of the talent assembled on this roster. If Knight can step in smoothly under center, the Aggies are strong nearly from top to bottom.

They have some tough match-ups, to be sure, including drawing UCLA in non-conference play to start the season.
However, I could see the Aggies leap-frogging Auburn in the West division and challenging ‘Bama, LSU and Ole Miss for divisional (and likely conference, seeing how much stronger the West division is than the East) supremacy.
