Oddsmakers are expecting some offensive fireworks in Saturday’s Temple at Memphis game, with a betting total of 70.
Temple is coming off a 39-37 win over South Florida last week, and the Tigers won 50-49 in week 7 against UCF. Offense is on the table, but also defense looks to be optional in Saturday afternoon’s tilt.
Temple got their season started two weeks ago and it was a rough one, going to Navy and falling 31-29 as -4 point road favorites. The Owls did get a nice bounce back in another close contest last week, toppling USF 39-37.
There are still some concerns for Temple coming into Saturday afternoon’s tilt. The win against the Bulls came as -14 point home favorites, and the Owls were down 11 with just over three minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
Temple has the #1 pass defense in the country (114.5 yards/game), but a lot of that has to do with Navy running the ball 60 times and throwing just two passes in the season opener.
The Owls defense gets a chance to show if they are for real on Saturday, as Memphis tosses the ball all over the field. The Tigers are 3rd in the country in total yards, including ranking 8th in the nation in pass yards per game.
Temple’s pass defense standings are sure to tumble a bit this week up against Brady White and the Tigers. The Memphis QB is clicking, throwing for 486 yards and 6 TD last week.
White was great in leading Memphis to a 50-49 win over UCF as +3 point home underdogs. It was a nice bounce back win for the Tigers, whose only loss was a 30-27 defeat at #16 SMU as +1.5 road underdogs.
The win was nice last week, but giving up 49 points has to be a bit concerning. Central Florida QB Dillon Gabriel went off against Memphis, throwing for 601 yards. UCF does have one of the most potent passing offenses in the nation though.
Temple’s offense really doesn’t do anything spectacularly great, which makes this massive total of 70 somewhat of a risky play. Owls QB Anthony Russo is completing 70.8% of his passes, but he’s also thrown 3 INT in two games.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction:
Three of the last four games between these two teams has been decided by a TD or less. Temple won last season 30-28 as +3.5 home underdogs, and only lost by a TD in their last visit to Memphis in 2016.
Free NCAA Betting Pick: Under 70
Memphis’ defense looked shaky last week, but UCF throws all over everybody. Temple simply doesn’t have that type of firepower.
