Cardinal vs. Fighting Irish Gameday
The Stanford Cardinal visit the No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET on NBC and Peacock.
Notre Dame enters 5-0 under Marcus Freeman, chasing another playoff appearance.
Stanford is 2-3 under first-year coach Tavita Pritchard. The Cardinal have lost 13 consecutive road games, a streak that’s getting considerably less charming with age. Their last road victory came at Syracuse in September 2024.
Notre Dame brings championship ambitions into a rivalry Stanford has struggled to keep competitive.
The Irish lead the all-time series 25-14 and have won three straight meetings. Stanford’s 16-14 upset in South Bend in 2022 remains proof that surprises happen.
Notre Dame will hold its annual Irish Wear Green game. Stanford needs a considerably sharper performance to spoil the celebration. It’s Week 6, Stanford Cardinal vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Stanford Cardinal vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Odds & Last 5
Notre Dame opened as a 37.5-point favorite at -12000 on the moneyline, with Stanford priced at +6375. That’s quite a gap, even by college football standards.
The Irish defeated North Carolina 37-26 last Saturday, extending their winning streak to 15 games.
Stanford suffered a 57-3 demolition at Wake Forest. The Cardinal managed 197 total yards while surrendering 519. Not much mystery about who controlled that afternoon.
Notre Dame won last season’s meeting 49-20. The Irish have taken four of the last five encounters.
The opening spread demands considerably more than another comfortable victory. Compare prices at your preferred sportsbooks before betting. Bookmakers don’t offer refunds because you couldn’t spend 30 seconds shopping around.

Fighting Irish Stats
Notre Dame averages more than 41 points per game, generating 1,334 passing yards through five contests. The Irish can attack through the air or on the ground.
Aneyas Williams has contributed 266 rushing yards and four TD’s.
Freshman Jonaz Walton provides additional backfield depth. Jordan Faison leads the receivers with 25 catches for 371 yards and four TD’s. He’s become a dependable option when the Irish need a big play.
Notre Dame’s offensive balance leaves defenses choosing which problem they’d rather deal with.
The Irish have surrendered only 59 points. Their defense has produced 14 sacks, five interceptions and six fumble recoveries.
Cornerback Leonard Moore and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa have dealt with injury concerns. Their availability warrants attention, although Freeman has defensive depth.
Cardinal Stats
Stanford has generated 1,239 passing yards but fewer than 500 rushing yards through five games. That imbalance makes sustained drives difficult.
Micah Ford leads the ground attack with 302 yards and four TD’s.
Caden High has caught 17 passes for 266 yards and three TD’s. He provides a useful target when Stanford needs to move the chains. Unfortunately, the offensive line hasn’t consistently provided enough time or running room.
The Cardinal have surrendered 191 points, averaging more than 38 per game. Missed tackles and defensive breakdowns have been expensive.
Stanford has collected three interceptions and recovered three fumbles. Those takeaways haven’t compensated for its difficulty getting opponents off the field. Offensive line injuries have added another problem. Pritchard needs better execution in the trenches, and preferably before the scoreboard gets ugly.
Cardinal vs. Fighting Irish QB Matchup
Notre Dame starts CJ Carr, who has thrown for 1,197 yards, 13 TD’s and one interception. He’s completed 71% of his passes through five games.
Carr accounted for five total TD’s against North Carolina, throwing four and rushing for another.
He’s become comfortable identifying pressure and distributing the football. Stanford counters with former Michigan QB Davis Warren, who has 1,207 passing yards, five TD’s and one interception. Warren opened the season with 167 consecutive attempts without a pick, matching a Stanford program mark.
Warren can distribute the ball, but inconsistent protection remains a problem. Notre Dame’s defensive speed will test his decision-making.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Noah Grubbs provides depth behind Carr, while Michael Mitchell Jr. backs up Warren. Carr enjoys a stronger supporting cast and more dependable protection. Warren has often needed to create something when blocking breaks down.
The Irish will try to make Warren uncomfortable early. Stanford must find ways to disrupt Carr, because giving him clean pockets is an expensive defensive strategy.
Stanford Cardinal vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish bottom line: Notre Dame’s offensive balance and defensive speed present a daunting challenge for Stanford on both sides of the football.

Cardinal Fighting Irish Free Pick: Notre Dame -37.5
Here is my Cardinal Fighting Irish free pick: Notre Dame -37.5. That’s a monster number, and I’m not pretending laying nearly six TD’s is a casual Saturday investment. The Irish need to win by 38, not merely show up and collect the Legends Trophy.
Notre Dame can turn Stanford’s offensive mistakes into short fields and quick points. I’m not counting on five 80-yard TD drives to get this ticket home.
My preferred script is an early Irish lead that forces Stanford into predictable passing situations.
I’m laying the big number because Notre Dame can build its margin through field position and early scoring.
The headache is the fourth quarter. Marcus Freeman could empty the bench, and nothing’s more irritating than watching a comfortable cover disappear while the backups audition for next season. I want separation before that substitution parade begins.
A late Stanford TD could make things uncomfortable. That’s the risk with a spread this large.
Still, my college football betting system likes favorites capable of creating their own scoring chances without needing perfect offensive execution. I’ll take the stronger team to build the margin early. Give me Notre Dame -37.5.
