Florida was explosive to say the least in their opener. I can’t remember when they looked that good on offense.
South Carolina was competitive in their loss. There is a lot of work to be done for sure.
This looks like another easy win for the Gators. That number tells us all we need to know right now.
South Carolina Gamecocks
It wasn’t a great effort but there were some encouraging signs from the opening loss to Tennessee. Now the question is whether the results ar repeatable.
Collin Hill followed his coach Mike Bobo from Colorado State and won the starting job. They let him throw the ball in the opener – he had 290 yards passing.
The Gamecocks want to be balanced though. That is tough when you are averaging only 2.5 yards per carry. They were committed to the run though, rushing 35 times.
The defense was pretty good against Tennessee. They allowed only one third-down conversion all game. Normally that would lead to a win.
South Carolina was able to muck things up against Tennessee enough to stay in the game. Against Florida they are going to be overmatched.
The Gators scored 51 points on the way to a solid opening win at Ole Miss. The defense could be better but if the offense stays hot it might not matter.
Kyle Trask had a monster game with 416 yards passing and 6 touchdown passes. Four of those were to TE Kyle Pitts who had 170 yards receiving. Lots of Kyle to Kyle memes being created.
The downside was a defense that gave up more than 600 yards of offense. Ole Miss might not have kept up on the scoreboard but they had just 29 fewer yards.
Florida has been too good on defense for too long and has talent on that side of the ball. Perhaps they were just caught unprepared thinking the Rebels would go with their running quarterback John Rhys Plumlee (I thought they would).

Free Week 5 NCAA Football Pick
First home game of the season for the Gators. They are heavy favourites taking on a team that is not as good as the Ole Miss squad they just beat.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Florida -18.5
I am tempted to go with the under here thinking the Gators cool some and get their defense a little more focused for this one but the spread looks a little better.
South Carolina will fight but they just don’t have the talent to compete with the elite in the SEC. I especially worry that their one-dimensional offense will make them too easy to defend.
