The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are travelling to East Lansing this week to take on the Michigan State Spartans in a Big Ten matchup.
These teams are at the bottom of the East division and are still seeking their first conference win.
The Scarlet Knights have dropped their last six games, but they were competitive in the last two weeks at Minnesota 34-32 and versus Indiana 33-27.
They are currently in last place in the East. The Spartans have had a similar season, losing their last eight games.
Although they have the same record as Rutgers, they are technically one spot ahead of them at 6th place in the division.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Not much was expected of the Scarlet Knights coming into the 2016 season, and they have gone into most of their games as significant underdogs. However, they have played many of these games much closer than expected.
Their offense was effective last week against Indiana, but the defense allowed a season-high 420 yards to the Hoosiers.
Rutgers made a quarterback change three weeks ago, and sophomore Giovanni Rescigno has played well in that time. He has thrown for 598 yards and five touchdowns with three interceptions.
They will use multiple players in the running game, but junior Robert Martin leads the team in rushing yards with 515 and one touchdown.
Wide receiver/running back Janarion Grant leads the team in rushing touchdowns with three.
Michigan State Spartans
There has been a lot of finger-pointing this year for the Spartans as they try to figure out what went wrong.
They made the College Football Playoffs last year and began the season ranked 12th in the AP poll.
After winning their first two games, they have dropped their last eight and are 0-6 in the Big Ten for the first time since joining the conference in 1953.
The Spartans have been relatively effective in moving the ball, but have been unable to convert yards into points.
Senior quarterback Tyler O’Connor has thrown for 1,606 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
As a team they rank 60th in the nation in passing with 238.2 yards per game through the air.
However, they only score 23.6 points per game (tied for 106th) and allow 30.1 points on defense (tied for 84th)
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 11 NCAA Football Prediction
Rutgers has played their last two opponents much closer than expected. However, Indiana and Minnesota do not have the kind of talent that the Scarlet Knights will face this week.
Both of these teams like to run the ball and do not score a lot of points, so UNDER would probably be the safe bet here.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: UNDER 55.5
Michigan State has been unpredictable this year, which is obviously never good for betting.
Considering the home field advantage and the overwhelming talent advantage, there is no reason to expect them to lose this game– but they have surprised us before.
