Big 10 rivals clash as Rutgers visits the Indiana Hoosiers while looking to halt a four game losing streak.
Though, minus their starting quarterback and running back, both decided to redshirt the season’s remainder, the Scarlet Knights are up against it vs. a quality Indiana squad.
The Hoosiers defeated host Rutgers 24-17 in 2018.

Through five games, Indiana has shown improvement after a disappointing second half last season. So far, the Hoosiers have upended Ball State, Eastern Illinois and UConn while hanging tough against then no. 25 Michigan State.
Conversely, Rutgers’ last win came in late August as the Scarlet Knights have since replaced their head coach and two most productive offensive players in QB Art Sitkowski and RB Raheem Blackshear.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Freshman Johnny Langan had an eye-opening inaugural start behind center last week, the Scarlet Knights gained just 163 aerial yards during a 48-7 loss vs. Maryland.
Further, Langan (13-of-25 completions) tossed two interceptions and no touchdowns on a day best consigned to memory for Rutgers. Likewise, sophomore running back Isaih Pacheco added 78 ground yards, but couldn’t find paydirt.
Buried under Maryland’s 490 total yards, and four rushing touchdowns, the Scarlet Knights’ nightmare season continued.
After being approached with redshirt requests from Blackshear and Sitkowski, interim Rutgers head coach Nunzio Campanile had this pointed response:
“Am I disappointed by it? Incredibly. Do I understand it? I guess so. I guess that’s the way the world is now. I think that this is a game about your team, you know, and it’s about sacrificing personal accomplishment for the success of the team. But that’s the world they live in, and they have got a lot of people telling them, you know, ‘Worry about you, worry about you. I get it.”
Just 1-11 last year behind Chris Ash, Campanile stepped in after Ash’s firing late last month and it seems his group’s morale has fallen.

Campanile previously headed Rutgers’ tight ends corps. Overall, the Scarlet Knights are the lowest-ranked FBS offensive unit at 14.2 points per game. Rutgers allows 36.2 points per game, which ranks 114th.
Indiana Hoosiers
The two-headed quarterback tandem of Michael Penix Jr. and Peyton Ramsey have combined for 11 touchdowns against four interceptions this season. Two weeks ago, however, Penix shined solo while completing 33-of-42 passes for 286 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
That performance helped Indiana remain stride-for-stride with MSU before falling 40-31. The Spartans’ 182 rushing yards made the difference as Indiana gained a scant 70 ground yards. Yet, in defeat, IU showed it can push nationally-ranked competition.
Such a revelation bodes well for the Hoosiers’ home return from an off week.
Offensively, Indiana ranks 43rd while averaging 33 points per game. The Hoosiers’ defense sits 44th allowing 23.6 points per game.

Free Week 7 NCAA Football Pick
This Saturday’s contest should provide a showcase for Indiana’s balanced attack. Expect massive output from maturing Penix Jr. as the Hoosiers overwhelm visiting Rutgers.
Conversely, the IU secondary and defensive line should enjoy complicating Langan’s second start. Already essentially playing for next season, don’t expect much fire today from the Scarlet Knights.
