Penn State could really throw a wrench into things if they finish up strong.
They have three winnable games down the stretch and if Ohio State beats Michigan all three teams could be tied.
I don’t know who emerges in that situation but it definitely looks like the Nittany Lions are on their way back to being a factor in the Big Ten. Which is good news.
Indiana is not going to have the same impact this season but they have been very competitive in the conference.
They seem to have found a better balance between offense and defense and that is helping in the win column.
They are definitely capable of winning this one at home.
Penn State Nittany Lions
It was probably only a matter of time before Penn State was relevant once again but it seems like the schedules has advanced more quickly.
You are not supposed to lose your QB to the NFL and then make the leap but that is what has happened.
The Nittany Lions have won five in a row, including beating Ohio State, and are very much a factor on the national scene.
They have a great chance of running the table and participating in a significant bowl. Getting that win over the Buckeyes was a real eye opener.
RB Saquon Barkley is among the best in the nation. With three games to go he is going to easily eclipse his rushing totals from his freshman season and already has more TDs.
He is closing strong too with four of his top five games in the last four weeks of the season. Junior QB Trace McSorley is not going to win any awards but he is getting better too.
He has not thrown an interception on their 5 game winning streak, and has that It factor.
Since Kevin Wilson arrived from Oklahoma the Hoosiers have been all about offense. All that approach has yielded is one bowl appearance and a peak record of 6-7.
It isn’t going to be easy with their remaining schedule but they are in a great position to return to the bowls this year.
They are still able to move the ball down the field but are finding that being able to stop your opponent every once in a while is also a great quality to have. Their only blowout loss this season was to Ohio State and even that game was a cover.
Indiana can still sling it when they want to though.
Richard Lagow is piling up yards but in his first year as a starter at this level he is also throwing the ball to his opponents more than he should.
4 times he has had multiple picks in a contest.
He is as big a QB as there is and is no running threat. Top back Devine Redding is looking to repeat as a 1000 yard rusher – he is on track to best last season.

Free Week 11 NCAA Football Prediction
This looks like a Penn State W but I am a little nervous about the fact that they have only won once on the road this season.
The same goes for covering, however, as long as this one stays under a TD I think the Nittany Lions are the play.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Penn State -6.5
I am starting to believe in Penn State and what might have been lost above and in surface analysis is how this team has been getting healthier as the year has progressed. If they truly are back, whatever that means, they should win and roll the intrigue for another week or two.
If this number gets over 7 though I probably will take a pass.
