Pac-12 football sees Oregon on the road to face off with Arizona in a nighttime showdown from Arizona Stadium.
Both of these teams picked up victories a week ago and they were done in similar fashions as they knocked off their respective opponents handily.
After not looking good at all in their opener, the Ducks have really been able to get back on track and it is clear that Dan Lanning has got a solid program in Eugene. The question is whether or not he can get them in that CFP contender category which would still be a stretch.
There is no question that a win by the Wildcats in this spot would be a huge statement for them in a spot where they are a heavy underdog at home. I do not know how much it would do for them in the grand scheme of things, but it would definitely get some people to look at their program a little differently.
The Ducks opened as an 11-point favorite and that number is now up to 13. Clearly, the oddsmakers expect there to be some points in this affair with the total sitting at 70.5.
Oregon Ducks
A week after Oregon won a close one against Washington State, they were able to win much more convincingly last week against Stanford with a 45-27 win.
The reality of their last victory is they were facing a team that was not very good and taking care of business against them was the only acceptable thing to do.
From very early on in that game, it was quite clear that this group was too much for the Cardinal to handle. It was 31-3 at the half, and although things did get a little closer in the second half, there was never a question about who was going to win it in the end.
Bo Nix finished the game going 16/29 for 161 yards with 2 touchdown passes and he also ran the ball 6 times for 141 yards.
Mar’Keise Irving added 10 carries for 97 yards and Noah Whittington ran it 11 times for 66 yards. On a day when the receivers did not have great games, it was good to see the Ducks have an effective ground game.
Although they will take the victory, there are certain things they are going to have to clean up for this game. Oregon picked up a total of 14 penalties which just cannot happen when you play someone who is at least somewhat talented.
Something else that will have to be better is their third-down effectiveness. Oregon was just 5/14 on that key down against Stanford which once again cannot happen against some of the better teams.
Even though this is a team that clearly still has a lot of work to do, they are playing a very beatable team in Arizona and it is a very reasonable expectation that this crew winds up with a record of 5-1.
They are more talented than their opponent in this spot and it really just comes down to execution. If Nix is able to get protected well and the running game can do what it did last time out, I have a hard time seeing their opponent have a ton of success against them.
Arizona Wildcats
Similar to their opponent, Arizona was able to win handily in their last game with a 43-20 win over the Colorado Buffaloes.
Of course, winning a game is always a good thing for a program, but even the Wildcats would have to admit that they really cannot take a lot from that win.
The reality of their last victory is they played a team who is downright awful and being able to win by that margin is exactly what they should do.
With all of that said, it was a very good day for their offense against Colorado, and that all started with Jayden de Laura who finished the game going 33/46 for 484 yards and 6 touchdowns.
The quarterback did a very good job of spreading the football out to a variety of receivers as three of them were able to go for 90 or more yards. Jacob Cowing led his team in that category with 12 receptions for 180 yards which he will certainly look to keep up when they face off with the Ducks.
For as nice as their last game was, Arizona knows it is going to be much more challenging on Saturday when they have to host a top-15 program. Being able to contain Bo Nix and his cast of weapons on offense is not going to be easy and the same can be said for trying to move the ball consistently on a talented and well-prepared defense.

4* Oregon vs. Arizona NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
Oregon still has a long way to go before they are an elite program, but I still just see them as the much better team in this spot.
It is very clear that the offense for the Ducks can really score the ball and it is also very clear that the Wildcats are not exactly great at stopping opposing offenses.
Bo Nix might not have a great game in this one, but I think he will be able to do enough on the ground and through the air to put a good amount of points on the board.
Oregon has also shown some vulnerabilities on defense this season, but I just do not see their opponent being able to score enough to keep this game all that close.
It could be competitive for a while, but I see the away team being too much in this contest.
