Oklahoma is still good but we are seeing what happens to the program when it doesn’t have the best QB in the land. It is not always so easy.
TCU is looking to win their first home game of the season All of their games have been close this year.
Both of these teams have beaten Texas this season. Not sure what that means just yet.
Oklahoma Sooners
It will be no surprise if Spencer Rattler wins a Heisman at Oklahoma, heck he might even win a couple, but he is not there yet.
He has been good but just not as precise as some of the previous QBs to roll through Norman. I think his surrounding cast is a little down too.
He is also not the running threat of the last two guys and with the talent dipping a little in support it just makes for a less explosive OU team. They are still averaging 40ppg so don’t feel bad for them.
It would also help if they were better on defense. They still have not figured out that side of the ball and until they do it will be a challenge for them to be truly elite.
It has been a couple of weeks since their win over Texas in the Red River Rivalry. That game was tight (OT) but they should be refocused for this one.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU has been pretty good and maybe if they had QB Max Duggan for the whole game against Iowa State in the opener their season would be a little better.
Duggan has been pretty good throwing it but I don’t think the plan was for him to be the leading rusher too. That is an area they need some improvement for sure.
Same with the defense. I do not think Gary Patterson is slipping at all but the defense has not been as good as expected, at least not against the run.
Against the pass they are very good, giving up less than 200ypg. That makes it sort of strength on strength in this matchup. I kind of like Patterson scheming against an inexperienced QB.
