The Ohio Bobcats and Ball State Cardinals square off on Saturday afternoon in Muncie, and this will be a game not to miss if you like offense, scoring, and fireworks.
Let me just start with the fact that I chose 1 game to do this weekend around here, and this was the puppy I went with when the sheet came out. Why?
Well, it had a little to do with how these two looked last weekend as they both went out and said BOOM!
Ohio dumped 45 points on Kent State and picked up a much-needed win to pull to 3 – 4 on the season. The 45 – 38 came on the heels of the 39 – 36 loss to Northern Illinois, which tells you that scoring has been the theme the last 2 weekends for this Bobcats squad.
And then Ball State took on Toledo last Saturday, which amounted to be a 52 – 14 thrashing of the Rockets and that got ugly early and stayed that way! The Cardinals were up 38 – 0 at halftime… Nuff said.

Ohio Bobcats
The Bobcats might be getting just about a field goal in this contest, but this might be one of those games that gets ugly. The Ohio defense is simply not in good shape, and you can see my the rankings how bad it is.
The Bobcats are ranked 115th out of 130 teams allowing 460 yards a contest, and the way Ball State looks coming into this weekend? Hide the women and children!
The Ohio run defense sits at 107th in the country giving up nearly 200 ypg and they will be getting a good dose of the rush against Ball State this weekend.
The Bobcats lost a heartbreaker to Northern Illinois 2 weeks ago, but Ohio rebounded nicely this past weekend with 45 points on the board in a wild game against Kent State. The Flashes had plenty of success moving the ball, and that could be the case this weekend against the Cards on the road.
Senior QB Nathan Rourke hasn’t thrown an INT the last 2 games and is seemingly getting more comfortable in the pocket as each game goes by. Rourke threw for 342 yards last weekend against the Flashes in the 45 – 38 win, and he only went 19 for 28. Of course, if you also watched that game, everyone and the candy striper was open against that Kent State defense that was simply atrocious in coverage.
Rourke is up to 1,612 yards this season and he is also leading this team in rushing with 79 carries for 409 yards. I am not a fan of having your QB lead the team in rushing with the beating it takes long term, but it has worked for Rourke thus far.
O’Shaan Allison is hanging around with Roarke in the run game with 76 of his rushes, but the 371 yards leaves room for improvement.
I think Roarke is leading the team in receiving, punts, and laundry duty after the game too LOL I mean if the dude does anymore for this squad, he will be washing dishes and doing the cooking soon!

Ball State Cardinals
It is simply amazing to see some of these MAC scores lately, and Ball State is certainly contributing to the output.
If you caught last weekend’s game against Toledo, you basically watched the Cardinals play a perfect 1st half to lead 38 – 0 with a cruise to the end to get everyone on the field in a blowout.
Drew Pitt didn’t need to do all that much other than hand the ball off 46 times to his backfield while adding 4 carries of his own to the mix. That’s 50 rushes for 374 yards on the ground, by the way!
Pitt ended the day 11 for 17 with 3 TD passes and 1 pick, although he only completed balls to 4 different receivers in the win. Riley Miller and Justin Hall both caught 4 balls to account for 8 of Pitt’s 11 completions and all 3 TD passes on the day, but again, when your running game is doing that much damage you just do what works and roll with it.
The Cardinals offense ranks 28th in the nation averaging 455 ypg, and they are listed as 34th in the country in scoring putting up 34.7 ppg. The Ohio passing defense will be tested for sure, and so far that has not worked out for the Bobcats one bit.

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Pick
Pretty clear that Mr. Roarke has come back from Fantasy Island to guide you to your dreamland! Dude can do it all, but having to do it all is not easy. His surroundings concern me a lot more than the balanced attack for Ball State, so the play might have to be on this home team along with this total.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick:
Ball State to cover the -2.5 and the Over 61.5 are both plays you should be on for this contest. I can easily envision a 24 – 20 game going to the half, much less all the action that we will see in the second frame as well.
Ball State will have a field day with the Ohio defense at home, and let’s call for a 38 – 31 home win for the Cards.
