Notre Dame is undefeated and near the to of the rankings but there is not a lot of love for the Irish right now.
Georgia Tech is home again to another highly ranked team. They have to be hoping that this one turns out a lot better than Clemson. Even if they lose.
With the Big Ten already back and PAC 12 coming soon Notre Dame has to do more than just win to stay near the top.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
A lot of the criticism of ND was stemming from an offense that was meh. Perhaps they have found something after whipping Pitt last week. The Panthers are supposed to have a strong defense.
QB Ian Book did have a good day but he was helped by a defense that had three interceptions and a Pitt team that had 12 penalties.
The defense has looked amazing this season. In three of five games, they have held opponents under 10 points. Georgia Tech might not score much.
That takes the pressure off Book and the offense. The thing that is most notable about ND when they have the ball is that they don’t have any game-breakers.
That won’t hurt them much here but will be a challenge when they take on really good teams, like Clemson, or maybe even North Carolina.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech is one of the hardest teams to forecast week to week. Even in their losses, you think they would be more competitive than they have been.
Jeff Sims is a great athlete at the quarterback position. Like most freshman though he is prone to mistakes. For them to have a chance he has to play a clean game.
Even if you throw out the 73 points that Clemson scored this Yello Jackets defense has not been good this season. If Notre Dame has found something with their offense they are going to be in trouble.
The fact that their offense is so up and down is not helping the defense either. GT needs to have some drives to give these guys a chance to catch their breath.
