The Northwestern State Demons will be on the road this week to play the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge at Tiger stadium. LSU made some moves in the polls this week after getting the best of the Longhorns at Texas.
As for Northwestern State, well, the Demons have a football team. They are still looking for their first win of the season and plan on taking advantage of the opportunity to be on Sports Center this weekend.
Northwestern State Demons
The Northwestern State Demons lost 33-7 at Midwestern State last week. They were down 26-7 at the half. Someone forgot to bring the Gatorade and things never really got going for the Demons.

Quarterback Shelton Eppler completed 28 of 42 passes for 177 yards. He also completed a pass to the LSU defense. Running back Jared West was the leading rusher for the Demons with 27 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
After two games, Northwestern State is averaging 13.5 points per game and is still looking for a win.
LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers showed the SEC and the rest of the college football world just how much of a threat they are this season with a 45-38 win against the Longhorns in Texas. If you’ve been following the Tigers for a few years, you have to admit, the offense is different in 2019.
It’s no longer a pound the ball up the middle until someone breaks, team. They have a quarterback and offensive coordinator this year looking to attack opposing defenses and light up the scoreboard.

Joe Burrow was crazy accurate last week in Texas, connecting on 31 of 39 passing attempts for 471 yards and four touchdowns. The kid did have an interception but he didn’t allow the mistake to apply pressure on the brakes. He kept after the Texas secondary.
His primary target in the game was wide receiver Justin Jefferson with, get this, nine receptions, 163 receiving yards, and he found the endzone three times.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire led the Tigers ground attack with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. I know I know. Those aren’t exactly the most impressive numbers. But when you have a quarterback on your side slinging the ball as Burrow did, there’s really not much you need to do other than put a helmet on somebody.
The LSU offense is currently fifth in the country, throwing for an average of 410.5 yards per game. They’ve been able to run the ball for a 112 yards per contest while scoring an average of 50 points. That’s 13th in the country after two games.
By looking at the numbers, you might say the LSU defense needs some attention. They allowed Texas to complete 32 of their 48 passing attempts, tossing the pigskin for 409 yards. If you really wanted to critique the team, I guess you could say they struggled at times against the run, giving up 121 rushing yards.
Keep one thing in mind. This was a top ten matchup. After all the hype last summer, the Tigers needed to show us they could hang with the big boys. In case you missed it, they can. They played against a top 10 team. On the road. Won on a late fourth-quarter drive. Over 550 total yards on offense. Roll what???

Free Week 3 NCAA Football Pick
The Tigers are in the SEC. If you’re new to college football, that means they don’t take the foot off the gas, regardless of who the opponent is. LSU needs as many blowouts as they can get before conference play gets underway.

I feel sorry for the young men at Northwestern State.
Let’s just say this is going to be a life lesson they will never forget. Getting beat down like they are going to this week will play a very significant role in these boys becoming men.
