North Texas is in the race in the Conference USA South.
This is a key spot as they need to win this week while not getting caught looking ahead to next week’s home date against Louisiana Tech – the top team in the division at the moment.
They are on a roll, having won three of four including an upset at Army last week.

The Roarunners had something going but then lost a close one at home to UTEP last week.
They need three more wins to get bowl eligible and there is no way that happens if they do not win this one at home.
Even with it it may be a long shot. This team has not been kind to bettors with a 2-5 ATS record.
North Texas Mean Green
The Mean Green are not so tough, at least when it comes to offense.
They are 116th in the nation in yards, though somehow they are much better in terms of points, 76th with 27ppg.
Jeffrey Wilson is going to set new career bests running the ball with big games throughout the month of October.
Last week against Army he rushed for 160 yards with 3 TDs.
He has nine TDs over the last four games and is the engine of the offense. QB Mason Fine, like his name, us just good enough to keep North Texas in the game.

North Texas was sort if impressive in beating Army last week.
I say sort of because they did give up 300+ yards rushing. However, when they were able to get the Black Knights into throwing situations they picked off the ball 4 times.
I know Army is not exactly cranking out pro quarterbacks but that is still a nice bit of play making, especially on the road.
They come into this one with good confidence.
UTSA Roadrunners
The Roadrunners are an interesting case.
They have covered twice this season but both were against the best teams on their schedule so far, Arizona State and Southern Miss.
You have to wonder if there is some sort of emotional/ego thing going on which would be interesting because it is not like UTSA has any sort of real history.
Speaking of emotion, they have to get over last week overtime loss to the Miners. It went to a fourth overtime before determining a winner and results like that can linger.

It is hard to find a particular strength with the Roadrunners.
QB Dalton Sturm has already eclipsed his numbers from a yer ago and has played well in those games against their toughest opponents.
This offense tries to be pretty balanced and the defense is in the middle of the pack.
This program could have a nice future ahead of it if it can start putting together some wins on the field.

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Prediction
It seems like the Roadrunners, who are at home, have more to play for as they hope to get to that magic six wins.
I am not sure that is enough though and the hook makes it a little less exciting to lean in that direction.
This might be a game to skip on the card.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: UTSA -3.5
Like I said before, this might be a smart pass. Conference USA alsorans are hard to get a real bead on and just because the oddsmakers are putting a line up does not mean you have to engage.
Short home favourites are never a bad idea though, especially in teaser situations.
