Both of these Big 10 teams enter this game coming off two straight losses and desperate for a win.

Each at 3-4, both teams will also be looking at this game as an opportunity to pick up a win in their quest for bowl eligibility.
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Nebraska likely will not be a favorite the rest of the way but have winnable games here, home against Northwestern and Iowa, and at Minnesota.

But it starts at Purdue this week. Nebraska has won 3 of the 4 matchups between the two teams since they joined the Big 10.
This year however, they lack the consistency at quarterback that they have had in years past. Tulane transfer Tanner Lee has shown some bright spots but he has also been prone to turning the ball over. Lee has thrown 10 interceptions already this season.
Lee is also only completing 55 percent of his passes and has provided zero threat on the ground – something the Cornhuskers typically have had at quarterback.
Nebraska has been blown out the last two games by Ohio State and Wisconsin but nearly won earlier in the season at Oregon dropping 42-35 despite a late comeback.
The defense has been mostly solid – outside of the first half against Oregon as well as the full game against Ohio State.
This should be an easier task for the Cornhusker defense though as Purdue has nowhere near the explosiveness of Oregon or Ohio State.
Lee could be poised for a better game as the defense will lighten up a bit for him and his experience and a bye week last week could allow for him to move past his bad games against Ohio State and Wisconsin to regroup.
Purdue Boilermakers
Purdue was looking the part of a tough Big 10 opponent before their horrible loss at Rutgers last week. They entered the game as 10 point favorites and managed to score just 12 points in the 2 point loss.
Prior to that, Purdue had given Louisville fits to start the year before falling by a touchdown. They beat Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio pretty easily. They had Michigan on the ropes for a lot of the game before falling apart late. And, they had Wisconsin on the ropes for the entire game falling just 17-9 at Wisconsin.
So no big wins early on but they had stuck around with the big dogs and taken care of business in their other games.

But last week’s loss at Rutgers was disastrous. Despite outgaining the Scarlet Knights by 257 yards and holding them to 8 first downs, they couldn’t find a way to win.
Now, the Boilermakers will have to fight hard for a postseason bid and get themselves back on track immediately in this game against Nebraska.
The offense had been pretty effective early on but has managed just one touchdown and five field goals in the last two games.
The quarterback position has been shared by David Blough and Elijah Sindelar which is rarely a recipe for success. The run game and defense have both been solid all season long and I would expect that to be what Purdue leans on to get back on track.
They are giving up just 19 points per game on the season and are rushing the ball at 4.4 yards per carry with 7 different guys registering at least 13 carries.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Pick
Purdue is a bit ahead of schedule under new coach Jeff Brohm but they are using the right formula for winning in the Big 10. A strong defense and an effective run game will always hold up well. I think those will allow Purdue to bounce back and win at home this week.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Purdue -6.0
Nebraska may stick around for much of the game but I expect Lee to have a couple costly turnovers to allow Purdue to secure a comfortable conference win.
