Montana State Bobcats
Last season the Montana State Bobcats went 8-5. In Big Sky play they went a respectable 5-3. The Bobcats will have a new quarterback leading the way with Troy Anderson gone
Montana State won’t miss as a quarterback but as a productive rusher.
As a passer he struggled last season going for 1,195 yards, three touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Anderson strived as a rusher, he led the team with 1,412 yards and 21 touchdowns.
With Anderson gone, the Bobcats will turn to Casey Bauman. Bauman only threw one pass last season and it was completed for four yards. He edged out Tucker Rovig for the starting job. Bauman is expected to be a better passer than Anderson but not the runner.

Isaiah Ifanse will likely be the star of the Bobcats offense. Last season he rushed for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns. Leading receiver Kevin Kassis (663 yards) should have a bigger season with Bauman under center.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Texas Tech Raiders had an inconsistent 2018 season as they went 5-7 overall. The Red Raiders went 3-6 in conference play. Their season included impressive wins against #15 Oklahoma State (41-17), and Houston (63-49). Texas Tech problem was closing against some elite teams. They had many games they could’ve won which would’ve put them in a good bowl without question.
The team had close losses against #7 Oklahoma (51-46), #12 West Virginia (42-34), and #19 Texas (41-34). Alan Bowman is expected to lead the Red Raiders offense.
He was terrific last season before being sidelined with a lung injury that caused him to miss the last three games. Bowman had 2,638 passing yards and 17 touchdowns.
Ta’Zhawn Henry (341 yards) is their leading returning rusher. Backup quarterback Jett Duffey might see some action in the wildcat offense as he had 369 rushing yards, a team high. The Red Raiders will certainly miss Antoine Wesley who led them with 1,410 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
T.J. Vasher (687 yards) is expected to have a big year at receiver. He is a sure red-zone target at 6’6 (7 touchdowns). Seth Collins (317 yards) will be another good target for Bowman as well.
Jordyn Brooks (84 tackles) and Adrian Frye (5 interceptions) should have a big season on defense. The Red Raiders gave up less than 32 points in six of 12 games last season despite being in a great conference.

Free Week 1 NCAA Football Pick
The Bobcats will running game will give the Red Raiders trouble early on and it will keep them in the game the first quarter or two. I expect Texas Tech to have a bigger second half and they will get separation.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Montana State +25
Look for Bowman to have a big game in this one but the Bobcats will barely cover. The Bobcats offense should score just enough to keep them within the big number on Saturday.
