The Missouri Tigers are facing off against the South Carolina Gamecocks this Saturday in the battle of the two Columbia’s.
These SEC East opponents have had less than stellar years, but this game could still have serious implications for both.
The Tigers, in particular, have had a rough year so far and are in last place in the East.
They have lost four straight, including a 35-21 home loss last week to Kentucky.
South Carolina has really picked things up lately and won two in a row. Their huge 24-21 upset over Tennessee last week pulled them to .500 and 5th in the division.
It’s tough to find much good to say about Missouri this year.
They have had trouble finding their way after long-time head coach Gary Pinkel retired at the end of last season. They do have one 79-0 win, but it was five weeks ago against Delaware State.
They have lost all four since and are winless in the SEC.
Although they haven’t had much success in the win column, the Tigers have been able to move the ball. They are currently 21st in passing with 295.1 yards per game.
Quarterback Drew Locke has the stats of a winner, with 2,215 yards, 18 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
However, he gets very little help from the rushing game, and the defense is one of the worst in the nation.
They are tied for 88th in scoring defense, allowing 30.4 points per game.
South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks have been up and down this year. They won two out of their first three games, but then lost three in a row.
They have been trending in the right direction recently, winning their last two including over SEC East rival Tennessee last week.
With a victory Saturday, they will only be one more win from bowl eligibility.
South Carolina has been through three quarterbacks already this year but seem to have settled on true freshman Jake Bentley as the primary man under center.
Sophomore Brandon McIlwain will probably still see time but primarily as a runner. The reason for the turnover is the fact that they have been totally unable to score.
They are 128th in the nation in scoring, with only 17.8 points per game.
The defense has kept them in games and only allows 21.3 points per game, good for 25th in CFB.

Free Week 10 NCAA Football Prediction
Although neither have been great, the Gamecocks are probably the better team in this one. If they have found their quarterback, they could continue their run and finish the year off right.
That would have to begin in Columbia Saturday.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: South Carolina -6.5
Missouri has a great passing attack but has trouble converting it into points.
South Carolina has a good pass defense that plays even better at home. Both teams have trouble scoring, so UNDER 54 might be the way to go in this one as well.
