We have reached week six of the college football season, and most teams are now in the conference portion of their season.
In this game it’s an SEC showdown in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Missouri Tigers make the trip to Commonwealth Stadium to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats have won the last two match ups including a 35-21 victory last year.
Coming into the season the Missouri Tigers were touted as a team that would have no problems scoring points, but also would have all kinds of issues stopping the opponents.
After game one that looked to be the case to. They played Missouri State in their first game and they came out ahead by the score of 72-43.
Since that point though, only one of those things have ringed true.
They haven’t been able to stop anyone on the defensive side of the ball, but they have all kinds of issues scoring the ball. Since that game they have given up 117 points while only scoring 30 of them.
Quarterback Drew Lock hasn’t thrown more then 245 yards since the first game of the season and has thrown five interceptions in that three game stretch.
To win this game the defense needs to be better. They need to find a way to slow down the Wildcats first and foremost.
If they can’t do that it won’t matter how many points they put up in this game, because they won’t have any chance of keeping up.
On the other side of this match up is the Kentucky Wildcats who have looked really impressive so far this year, and their only loss was a one point defeat at the hands of the Florida Gators. They had a chance for a long field goal as time expired to win the game but it was blocked.
For the Wildcats they aren’t really great on the offensive or defensive side of the ball, but they are good enough on both sides of the ball to win games.
Besides that one loss they have also done a good job of closing out games. Every game has been decided by 11 points or less so far this year, and they have won all but one.
To win this game the Wildcats offense needs to find a way to have a lot of success in this game. The Tigers defense is bad and the Wildcats need to try and run up the score as high as they can.
If this game is a shootout the chances for them to win is very high.
