Miami’s only loss this season was to Clemson. Now they are trying to stay at the top of their division to set up a rematch in the title game.
NC State is proving to be no easy out this season thanks for a much better offense.
Things tend to get a little wild on Friday’s in the ACC. The Wolfpack are counting on that.
Miami Hurricanes
Miami did not play last week but since they got dumped by Clemson they have won two in a row, and that win over UVA looks even better after the Cavs beat UNC last week.
The scoring was down in October though. After a low of 31 points in September that was their high last month.
Key to the struggles has been the play of D’Eriq King. The transfer QB could do no wrong through the first three games but since has four interceptions, with just five TD passes.
The defense has been solid this season. If you throw out that Clemson game they have held four of five opponents to under 20 points.
Miami is right there behind Clemson and Notre Dame in the ACC standings. They probably can’t afford another loss if they want to potentially play in the title game.
NC State Wolfpack
NC State did not play last week either. The last time we saw the Wolfpack they were losing by 27 points at North Carolina.
It was their first game playing without injured QB Devin Leary and it is probably not a coincidence that they had their lowest-scoring game of the season with just 21 points.
They are back home but that does not bode well for them in this game against Miami, other than hopefully they have figured out which QB and which schemes might actually work.
The defense has been bad all season long, giving up an average of 34ppg. Maybe if they give up just that this one stays competitive.
