LSU lost for the first in a while last week. There is a lot to take from that game but mostly it is just that this team is not as good as last year’s. We knew that though.
Vanderbilt was competitive against Texas A&M but that might say more about the Aggies.
LSU could not ask for a better opponent to get right against.
Per the intro the Tigers lost last week. Mississippi State and their new Air Raid attack more than had their number. Vandy is not built like that though.
MSU QB KJ Costello had the best passing game in SEC history last week, which is something we are just not used to seeing against an LSU defense. Derek Stingley Jr was hurt, he is probable for this one.
LSU quarterback Myles Brennan looked OK. He was never going to be as good as Joe Burrow was last year but he had a nice first start to build from. Even though it was a loss.
It won’t be exploited in this one but you have to be concerned with how the defense was torched. This group has to get their swagger back.
LSU should come out roaring for this one. Definitely a buying opportunity off the loss. We probably got another three points of value there.
Vanderbilt was very competitive against Texas A&M last week. If they had won the game it would have been impressive but this is still not a good team.
Vanderbilt only had 255 yards of offense against the Aggies and their quarterback threw a couple of interceptions. Texas A&M just made a lot of mistakes too, keeping the game very close.
It is encouraging how well the defense played against an experienced quarterback in Kellen Mond, but again it is hard to know where the Aggies failures were induced by Vandy or weren’t.
I would have much rather backed Vandy if they looked bad in week one and LSU looked good and hoped those impressions were not quite the real deal. This week does not set up good for the home side.

The one thing we did find out about LSU last week is that they are not reverting to their unimaginative offensive ways. That is a good sign for covering big numbers like this one.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: LSU -21
This is a bit of a brand over brand bet. LSU turned over so many spots from last year it is hard to know just what you are getting but the talent looks good. They just need to get these guys the reps.
The key is getting off to a good start. Though I also think that given everything they are going to want to get Brennan as many reps as possible. A full three quarters for sure.
