This bowl game has the Tigers and their stout defense going up against Lamar Jackson and the electrifying Louisville offense.
This matchup features two teams with one significant strength, and this should be one of the best games of the bowl season.
LSU Tigers
Ed Orgeron has been named the full time head coach which will be a significant move for the Tigers for the next few seasons. He is one of the best recruiters in the country and will get the most out of the Tigers for this bowl game.
The Tigers haven’t been known for their passing offense for over a decade, but senior QB Danny Etling put up good numbers in the win against Texas A&M.

He finished the game 20-28 for 324 yards through the air and 2 touchdown passes.
The offensive line gave him plenty of time and he was not sacked in big win. The Louisville pass rush will need to play at their best to force a couple of turnovers from the veteran.
Leonard Fournette has been the face of the LSU offense since he signed his letter of intent. This year the projected #1 running back in the NFL draft has been hampered by injuries and poor play calling. He is questionable for the bowl game.
With Fournette down with injuries, Derrius Grice has filled in with relative ease. He was absolutely dominant against the Aggies, carrying the ball 37 times for 285 yards and 4 touchdowns.
I expect him to put up big numbers if Fournette isn’t able to go. Look for him to get 150 yards and 2 scores on the ground.

The LSU defense struggled against the Aggies but there is still a lot of talent on that side of the ball and they will have a tough time slowing down Lamar Jackson and that fast paced Louisville offense.
Louisville Cardinals
Although he has slowed down as of late, Lamar Jackson has been the best player in college football. The dynamic sophomore looks like a once in a generation player but he struggled in the loss to Kentucky.
He threw 3 interceptions but did account for 450 total yards and 4 touchdowns. Against the Tigers defense expect Jackson to face relentless pressure, as Lousiville’s O-line won’t be up to the task.
Brandon Radcliff has been up and down the last few weeks, but put up a good game against the Wildcats. He carried the ball 16 times for 90 yards.
He can break long runs when given space but the LSU front seven will be the best he has faced all season. I expect the Tigers to shut him down and keep him under 50 yards on the ground.

The Cardinals defense has had trouble stopping the pass all season long. They were torched by Kentucky QB Stephen Johnson, who also beat him with his legs in the rivalry game.
If the Cardinals can’t force turnovers early I expect this game to be a lot closer than people will think.
