Tigers vs. Wildcats Gameday
The No. 10 LSU Tigers visit the Kentucky Wildcats at Kroger Field in Lexington on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on ESPN.
LSU enters 4-1 under first-year coach Lane Kiffin, with a 1-1 SEC record.
Kentucky is also 4-1 under first-year coach Will Stein and sits No. 25 in the national rankings. The Wildcats are 2-1 in conference play and have won three straight games. Lexington should be plenty loud, although noise alone has never tackled anybody.
LSU brings top-10 expectations to Lexington, where Kentucky has already shown it can make life uncomfortable.
The Wildcats won the last meeting 42-21 in Lexington in 2021. Kentucky also defeated LSU 43-37 in triple overtime during the Tigers’ previous visit in 2007.
LSU leads the all-time series 39-16.
The Tigers haven’t won in Lexington since the famous Bluegrass Miracle in 2002. That’s a long time to wait for another road victory, even by SEC scheduling standards.
Both teams enter with legitimate conference ambitions. LSU wants to remain in the playoff conversation, while Kentucky has an opportunity to establish itself as more than an early-season surprise.
It’s Week 6, LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats, hopefully we get a great matchup.

LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats Odds & Last 5
LSU opened as an 8.5-point favorite at -342 on the moneyline, with Kentucky priced at +270. The opening total is 54.5 points.
The Tigers demolished McNeese 63-14 last Saturday.
LSU generated 731 total yards in that victory, the second-highest single-game total in school history. The Tigers previously defeated Texas A&M 35-6 after losing 32-24 at Ole Miss.
Kentucky escaped South Carolina with a 35-34 overtime victory after overcoming a 17-point deficit. The Wildcats needed a successful two-point conversion to finish the comeback. Apparently, winning without giving the coaching staff heart palpitations wasn’t an option.
Before that, Kentucky defeated South Alabama and Texas A&M after suffering its only loss against Alabama.
LSU has scored 115 points across its last two games, which helps explain the respect for its offense. Kentucky’s recent results have been much tighter, with its ability to survive close finishes becoming a recurring theme.
Compare the number at your preferred sportsbooks before betting. A half-point around a key total can matter, and bookmakers certainly aren’t offering a loyalty discount for taking the first price you see.

Wildcats Stats
Kentucky has scored 173 points through five games, generating 1,148 passing yards and 940 rushing yards. The Wildcats have enough offensive variety to challenge defenses in several ways.
CJ Baxter leads the ground game with 361 rushing yards and six TD’s.
Jason Patterson has added 355 rushing yards, giving Kentucky another dependable option. Kenny Darby leads the receivers with 25 catches for 322 yards and three TD’s. His ability to create separation has made him a favorite target in important situations.
Kentucky has the offensive weapons to compete, but its defensive inconsistency remains a serious concern.
The Wildcats have allowed 134 points while recording 10 sacks. They’ve also produced six interceptions and four fumble recoveries, showing an ability to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes.
Defensive consistency has been another story.
Kentucky has allowed opponents to convert nearly 46% of their third-down attempts. That’s a difficult way to get off the field, especially against an offense capable of sustaining long possessions.
The Wildcats are also dealing with significant linebacker injuries. Alex Afari Jr., Tavion Wallace and Antwan Smith are unavailable, while defensive lineman Kalen Edwards has been ruled out. Stein needs his remaining defenders to communicate cleanly against LSU’s varied formations.
Tigers Stats
LSU has scored 218 points through five games, averaging nearly 44 per contest. The Tigers have accumulated 1,550 passing yards and 1,204 rushing yards, ranking among the SEC’s most productive offenses.
Dilin Jones leads the rushing attack with 427 yards and five TD’s.
Harlem Berry and Stacy Gage provide additional backfield depth. That rotation allows Kiffin to change personnel without abandoning the ground game, a useful luxury against conference defenses.
LSU leads the SEC in total offense and total defense. The Tigers are allowing only 220 yards per game, a substantial improvement over the defensive problems that have troubled the program in recent seasons.
The defense has recorded 22 sacks and ranks among the nation’s leaders in limiting opposing rushing attacks.
Princewill Umanmielen leads the country with eight sacks. His ability to disrupt the pocket gives LSU a dangerous weapon without requiring constant blitzing. Opposing offensive tackles probably have more enjoyable ways to spend a Saturday night.
Injuries have taken a toll. Linebacker Whit Weeks and tight end Trey’Dez Green are out, along with safety Dashawn Spears and receiver Phillip Wright III. Weeks and Green remain significant absences, although neither has been ruled out for the entire season.
Tigers vs. Wildcats QB Matchup
Kentucky starts Kenny Minchey, who has thrown for 1,148 yards, 11 TD’s and one interception through five games. He’s been efficient while directing Stein’s offense.
Minchey has attempted 142 passes this season.
His ability to distribute the football has helped Kentucky develop a more balanced attack. Callum Wither provides depth behind him, although his playing time has been extremely limited.
LSU counters with Sam Leavitt, who has thrown for 1,220 yards, eight TD’s and seven interceptions. The yardage has been productive, but the turnovers remain an obvious concern. Kiffin would probably appreciate fewer passes ending up in the wrong uniform.
CP Is More Than Just Sports Picks!
“ Anybody can post a prediction. CappersPicks backs up its sports picks with opinionated matchup analysis, experienced handicappers & documented betting performance. Pad that bankroll one day at a time! ”
Leavitt has completed 92 of 139 passes through five games.
Against McNeese, he finished 18-of-23 for 176 yards and three TD’s, along with an interception. His accuracy was encouraging, although the turnover issue hasn’t completely disappeared.
Landen Clark has contributed 235 passing yards and one TD without an interception in reserve duty. LSU also has Husan Longstreet available behind Leavitt.
Minchey has been the more careful passer, while Leavitt has greater responsibility in LSU’s aggressive offense. Kentucky will try to take advantage of any careless decisions. LSU’s defensive front, meanwhile, presents Minchey with his toughest protection assignment in several weeks.
LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats bottom line: LSU’s superior defensive production meets a confident Kentucky offense in a matchup where execution and turnovers could determine the outcome.

Tigers Wildcats Free Pick: Under 54.5
Here is my Tigers Wildcats free pick: Under 54.5. Betting an under after LSU hung 63 on somebody isn’t exactly fashionable, but I don’t make wagers based on last Saturday’s highlight reel. Kentucky isn’t McNeese, and this number requires both offenses to keep contributing.
My preferred script starts with LSU establishing control without turning every possession into a track meet. The Tigers can move the chains, protect a lead and make Kentucky earn its points.
That last part matters because the Wildcats have been living dangerously.
I’m betting the scoring pace slows once LSU forces Kentucky to work for every possession.
Kentucky’s comeback ability is the obvious concern. A couple of quick TD’s can wreck an under before you’ve finished complaining about the officiating. I also don’t love LSU’s tendency to give the ball away.
Still, a total this high leaves room for a respectable offensive showing without requiring a shootout. A 31-20 finish gets the job done, and neither team needs to look helpless for this ticket to cash.
I want LSU controlling the second half and Kentucky settling for difficult, time-consuming drives rather than explosive scoring exchanges. The number gives me enough breathing room to accept a few big plays. My college football betting system points toward a more deliberate SEC contest, so give me Under 54.5.
