While both teams played schools most people probably haven’t even heard of, the Louisville Cardinals and Syracuse Orange both started the season off 1-0.
They’ll both now look to grab a much more improved victory when they headline Friday night College Football from the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
Granted it was the Charlotte 49ers, the Louisville Cardinals put an absolute beating on the opposition in Week 1 really setting the tone for what could be a fun season in Louisville.
The Cardinals took it to the 49ers in a 70-14 victory, as QB Lamar Jackson put his stamp on his Heisman hopeful season early.
Jackson racked up 405 yards through the air and on the ground combined, while setting a school record with 8 total TDs. While is workload would be impressive for anyone in a game, Jackson managed to do all that in just the first half.
Louisville will look to make it back to back wins against the Orange in as many seasons.
Last year, Jackson actually missed the game due to injury, but that didn’t stop Louisville in an eventual 41-17 route.
They’ll have a similar game plan here as the Heisman hopeful will use his mobility to early get the Orange on their heels, especially early on.
While there was nothing flashy or spectacular about it, the Orange took down Colgate in their opening week, as the defense played a big part in the victory.
Syracuse held Colgate to just 7 points in a 33-7 win.
A major key here will be the linebacking of the Orange. They returned 3 starters from last season, but after seeing what Jackson did with his legs against Charlotte, they’ll certainly have to been on their toes.
Expect one, if not two, spies on Jackson at all times from the linebacking corp, as they simply cannot allow Jackson to turn it up field.
Head coach Dino Babers brought his offensive success to Syracuse this past offseason and saw QB Eric Dungey really play well last week.
Dungey finished 34 of 40 for 355 yards was thanks in large part to the quicker tempo from Babers offense. They make even take the tempo up a notch here on Friday.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
With the way the Orange moved last week and how quickly they went offensively, this has the making of a higher scoring game.
Both defenses were solid against the weak offenses they faced last week, but this is a much different level game here on Friday.
