The #1 team in the nation gets set to welcome in an SEC opponent when the Kentucky Wildcats come to town on Saturday night.
Alabama got a breather from their tough non conference slate with an easy win over Kent State last week. The Wildcats won their 2nd straight as they took down South Carolina.
The Kentucky Wildcats have rebounded nicely from their 0-2 start to the season.
After dropping games to Southern Miss and Florida, the Wildcats responded with a blowout win over New Mexico State and snuck one out against South Carolina last week.
Kentucky heads on the road for just the 2nd time this season, as the first road trip didn’t go according to plan. The Wildcats were knocked around by the Gators 45-7 as they were atrocious on both sides of the ball.
This matchup doesn’t bode very well for the Wildcats either.
Kentucky has conceded 35.2 points per game against very sub par offenses and gives up 472 yards per game. Going up against a Crimson Tide offense that wears you down and can strike at any moment is a recipe for disaster here for Kentucky.
A lot of pressure will be put on this offense to kill the clock and really control the tempo.
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama has looked flawless this season and got some of their starters some much needed rest after a tough stretch to start the season.
Alabama cruised over Kent State last week and will enter a tough stretch following this home date with the Wildcats.
Not that a Nick Saban team would ever get caught looking ahead, but they’ll encounter road games with Arkansas and Tennessee coming up.
QB Jalen Hurts wasn’t needed much in the win over Kent, but still did toss for 164 yards and a touchdown. The hope for Saban and the rest of the coaching staff is to get out to another big first half lead and rest Hurts for the upcoming stretch.
Look for Alabama to use RB Damien Harris here a lot in the first half, pending his health. Harris left Saturday’s game with an injured ankle and is still uncertain for Saturday.
Alabama uses a compliment of running backs, but expect Joshua Jacobs to get a majority of the touches if Harris doesn’t go. Jacobs rushed for 97 yards in the win over Kent with a pair of touchdowns.
