The Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Oxford and take on the Ole Miss Rebels from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this Saturday on ESPN. Ole Miss will open as the six-point favorites at home, with the total opening at 55.

Kentucky had a great month of September, opening the season with a win and cover over Miami (OH), and then an impressive win that got the country going. Kentucky (+6) went into the Swamp and bottled up Florida, giving head coach Mark Stoops the all-time wins record for the Bluegrass. UK then shutout Youngstown State, 31-0, but got a tiny scare the following Saturday from a feisty MAC school.
Last weekend, Kentucky defeated Northern Illinois, 31-23, failing to cover for just the first time this season.
Will Levis feels built for this moment. He’s a gamer, and he’s proven capable of traveling and winning big games over the past two seasons. The veteran quarterback was flawless in the win over Northern Illinois, tossing for 303 yards with four touchdowns, and his play has Kentucky in another appealing road underdog spot.
Levis has thrown for 1,185 passing yards, with ten touchdowns to four interceptions, and a pair of rushing scores through the first four games of the season.
With stud runner Chris Rodriguez still on the shelf for the Wildcats, veteran back Kavosiey Smoke has enjoyed a bigger role. The fifth-year senior has eclipsed the 80-yard mark in each of the last three games, and he’s giving UK just what they need until Rodriguez is ready to return. Smoke leads the team with 263 rushing yards on the season.
Levis’ has a whole new crop of pass catchers this season, and they’ve all meshed quickly. Tayvion Robinson, a Virginia Tech transfer, torched the MAC in the two matchups with the conference, combining for 13 catches and 273 yards during those games. Hometown frosh Dane Key scored in each of the first three games, and he’s second on the team in receptions (15) and yards (241). Fellow freshman Barion Brown caught a pair of touchdowns last weekend.
Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss has jumped out to an ideal 4-0 start here in 2022. The Rebels came out of the gate slow against Troy, but they did lay the boom on Central Arkansas and cover the 36-point spread seven days later in Oxford. Lane Kiffin’s team then traveled to Atlanta, and put a whopping on Georgia Tech, but they just managed to avoid disaster last Saturday at home.
Last weekend, Ole Miss defeated Tulsa, 35-27, missing the margin for just the first time this season.
Jaxson Dart had the tall task of replacing one of the school’s best signal callers ever in Matt Corral, and he’s played well thus far. The USC transfer is coming off of one of the best starts of his young career, passing for 154 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 116 yards on the ground.
Dart has thrown for 697 passing yards with five touchdowns to two interceptions, and 201 rushing yards during the month of September.
Kiffin’s got a high-powered run game going here in Oxford. Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans have split the work effectively early, with one of them gaining 100 yards in each of the first four games. Judkins, a redshirt freshman, had a big day against Tulsa, pacing the team with 140 yards and scoring twice. Evans, a Cal transfer punished Georgia Tech for 134 yards and two scores himself in Week 3, giving the Rebels a potent a tandem alongside Dart.
Judkins leads Ole Miss with 429 rushing yards and five scores, while Evans has rushed for 365 yards and four touchdowns through the first four games.
It wouldn’t be Ole Miss football without a couple of imposing wideouts. Jonathan Mingo and Malik Heath fit the build, and have given Dart a pair of big body receivers to rely on. Mingo eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for his career against GT, and he leads the Rebels with 257 yards. Heath came over from in-state foe Mississippi State, and he’s caught 13 passes for 220 yards and a team-lead three touchdowns.
