#19 Kansas State faces another tough test – on paper at least – in their second full game since losing QB Skylar Thompson for the season to a shoulder injury. The Wildcats won last week with a true freshman at QB.
Kansas is aiming to just put up a fight against their in-state rivals, something they haven’t done in any of their four games thus far. The Jayhawks are 0-4, but have also been getting blown out with an 0-4 record against the spread.
Kansas Jayhawks
There hasn’t been much to be happy about for Jayhawks fans this season. They’ve been at least 17 point underdogs in each of the last three weeks, losing all three SU and ATS.
The most recent defeat for KU is a 38-17 loss at West Virginia as +20.5 underdogs. Kansas actually started with a 10-0 lead in that game, but gave up 38 points unanswered before a 92-yard kick return with under 2:00 minutes left.

Kansas’ big problem, of many, is their rush defense that gives up 227.3 yards/game which is 8th worst in the country. WVU ran for 226 yards last week against the Jayhawks.
Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State was able to get a 21-14 win at TCU two weeks ago as +11 point road underdogs. Oddsmakers didn’t give the Wildcats much respect, mostly because the game came a week after Thompson injured his shoulder.
True freshman Will Howard didn’t do much through the air for KSU going just 8/19 for 117 yards and an INT. He did carry the ball 13 times for 86 yards and a score however. The running game will be huge against KU.
K-State is regretting their 31-35 home loss to Arizona State to start the season, dropping that game as -15.5 favorites. So far that loss to the Sun Devils is the only blemish on the KSU resume.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction:
Kansas State is coming off a bye week, which should help Howard get more comfortable with added first team reps. The Wildcats have won 11 straight in this series, including 38-10 last season.
Free NCAA Betting Pick: Kansas State -20
Howard is a freshman which could push some bettors towards the KU side, but it’s the running game that will dominate for K-State here.
