Both teams should be excited about the Start of the 2017 season.

Holy Cross and Connecticut have never faced each other, so hopefully this game can be the start of a small school, bigger school rivalry.
The weather should be nice for kickoff, around 80 degrees. Thunderstorms could be a possibility later in the game.
Holy Cross Crusaders
Holy Cross was 4-7 last year and finished tied with Bucknell for third in the Patriot League conference. This year, Holy Cross looks to turn their record around and get to their third ever bowl game in school history.
Head Coach Tom Gilmore will be coaching his 14th season as the Holy Cross head coach.
He and the entire staff are ready to put last years disappointing season behind them, and get back to the winning ways of 2015. The Crusaders went 6-5, and were bowl eligible.

Holy Cross returns QB Peter Pujals. Pujals will the the Crusaders offensive everything this year.
He is second in Holy Cross history in every major stat category at quarterback. Richie DiNicola will step in as Pujals go to target at receiver, while running back Diquan Walker will carry the load in the backfield.
Connecticut Huskies
Coach Randy Edsall returns to East Hartford as the Huskies Head Coach. Edsall has success as the leader at Uconn. He guided the Huskies to four eight win seasons and a Fiesta Bowl appearance in 2010.
The Huskies offense will be led again by the running back and quarterback tandem of Arkeel Newsome and Bryant Shirreffs. Shirreffs was a big part of the Huskies offense.
He he threw for over 2,000 yards in 2016. Expect him to be even better this year.

The Connecticut defense has been what they have been know for the past few seasons. The Connecticut defense ranked 65th in the country, allowing over 28 points per game.
Vonte Diggs will be the leader for the Huskies defense this season at linebacker.

Free Week 1 NCAA Football Pick
The Holy Cross Crusaders have never faced the Huskies, and should get ready for a team who is more talented at basically every position, but I do expect a lot of productivity from Peter Pujals.
He will be ready, but its hard to say if the rest of his team will as well.
