Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors lost 56-26 against the Air Force Falcons on Saturday night. After trailing by only four at the half Hawaii was outscored 28-6 in the second half.
Cole McDonald had a big game going for 404 passing yards and three touchdowns. McDonald also added a team-high 41 rushing yards. As a team the Rainbow Warriors only had 82 rush yards on 20 carries.
Jared Smart had a terrific game going for 140 yards on 11 receptions. JoJo Ward had 89 yards and a touchdown, and Melquise Stovall added two receiving touchdowns and 71 yards.
The issue for Hawaii is that they allowed 353 rushing yards in the contest. Three Falcons players had at least 90 rushing yards in the game. It didn’t help that the Rainbow Warriors committed two turnovers and the Falcons didn’t have one.
New Mexico Lobos
The Lobos are coming off a 35-21 loss to the Colorado State Rams. Sheriron Jones struggled in the contest going for 89 passing yards and an interception. Jones also had 54 rushing yards on 17 carries.
Bryson Carroll had a massive game with 193 rushing yards and a touchdown. Marcus Williams went for 58 receiving yards on five catches. New Mexico committed three turnovers in the game, two by Jones.
New Mexico’s defense struggled particularly in the pass game. Colorado State qb Patrick O’Brien exposed them going for 420 passing yards and three touchdowns.
