This ACC divisional matchup means a lot for North Carolina as they try to tread water in hopes of making the ACC Championship game again.

It also has important implications for Georgia Tech who has now won two in a row and has their eyes on another bowl bid after missing out last season.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
After going 11-3 in 2014, last season’s 3-9 record was quite the disappointment.
But the Yellow Jackets have regained some of their swagger this season and are gaining some momentum with 2 straight wins.
Their option based offensive attack stumbled for a stretch earlier this season when they lose three straight.
Yet, back to back wins over Georgia Southern and Duke has their eyes on a bowl bid with likely 1 win needed in their tough remaining schedule.
This matchup could be a good one for the Yellow Jackets – at least offensively – as North Carolina has struggled against the run. The Tar Heels are allowing 203 rushing yards per game this season.

The key to picking up the win though will be finding a way to slow down Tar Heel quarterback Mitch Trubisky.
The Yellow Jackets have struggled some against the pass – allowing opponents to complete 63.5 percent of their passes which is 109th in the FBS.
Trubisky completes 71.2 percent – third best in the FBS – so that will be problematic for the Georgia Tech defense.
It will be up their rushing attack to control the tempo and keep Trubisky off the field as much as possible.
North Carolina Tar Heels
Trubisky is not only 3rd in the FBS in completion percentage but also owns a 18 to 2 touchdown to interception ratio.
In an offense that returned running back Elijah Hood and lost quarterback Marquise Williams, the Tar Heels were expected to rely on their running game.
Yet, the development of Trubisky has left the Tar Heels with a top 25 ranking in the first release of the college football playoff rankings and a remaining outside shot at going to the ACC Championship game.
But, they can’t afford to stumble along the way and Trubisky’s ability to protect the football should be beneficial in avoiding that stumble.

What is concerning for the Tar Heels is their poor run defense. The Yellow Jackets almost entirely run the football and North Carolina isn’t great at slowing down the run.
Of course, recall their bowl game last season where Baylor didn’t have a healthy quarterback so it was obvious they were going to run the ball but North Carolina still allowed them to rush for 645 yards and 7 touchdowns.
So, even if the run is going to be the predictable play, that doesn’t mean that North Carolina will be able to stop it. After all, everyone knows that Georgia Tech runs the ball and yet they still are effective.

Free Week 10 NCAA Football Prediction
Georgia Tech won’t have an answer for Trubisky and the Tar Hell offense. Their rushing attack should be effective early on but if they start to trail, they will have a tough time coming back running the ball.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: North Carolina -11.0
The Tar Heels should win this game convincingly and continue their effort towards a back to back ACC Championship berth.
