We have reached week six of the college football season and by this point most of the teams are playing the conference portion of their schedule.
One of those showdowns is an SEC showdown in Nashville, Tennessee.
The red hot Georgia Bulldogs come into town to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Commodores won the match up last year 17-16.
People knew the Georgia Bulldogs were going to be good this year, but not many expected that this team would be this good.
They come into this game with a 4-0 record with big wins over Tennessee and Notre Dame. In the last game they went to Tennessee and won the game 41-0, a game that might ultimately cost Butch Jones his job.
For the Bulldogs offense the success starts with the ground game. Senior Nick Chubb comes into this game having run for 480 yards and four touchdowns.
They also have a really good quarterback in Freshman Jake Fromm. He has thrown for 734 yards and eight touchdowns. He has also done a pretty good job of not turning the ball over only throwing two interceptions.
As good as the offense has been the defense has been spectacular. They only give up 244 yards and 9.2 points per game, both which rank top three in the country.
In their last two games against SEC competition they have scored a total of 72 points while only giving up three. To win this game the Bulldogs just need to play their game.
They need to not turn the ball over on offense and the defense needs to be spectacular again in this game.
On the other side of this match up is the Vanderbilt Commodores who had a lot of high hopes after starting 3-0 but have really struggled the last few games.
The defense was really good the first couple of games and that is what won them the ball games, but in thel ast two games it has been much different.
Against the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators they gave up 97 points while only scoring 24 of them. In the first three games they only gave up a total of 13 points, so that was a big change.
The offense is decent but isn’t good enough to carry the team, so the defense is going to need to be really good in this game if they want a chance to pull the upset.
The defense is going to need to find a way to slow down the run to start with. If they can’t do that it’s going to be a long game in front of their home fans.
