Notre Dame has looked good but I am still no sure this is a Top Five team.
Meanwhile, Florida State has looked anything but. The question is whether they have hit rock bottom or not.
If so we might get a little more fight from them than we have seen this season.
Florida State Seminoles
There was a lot of optimism when coach Mike Norvell took over the program. It is not all on him but it feels like nothing has gone right since.
I am not sure what we are supposed to make of the results this season. Last week they were down 14 points to Jacksonville State. They won, but how is that even possible, right?
In the game, they played two quarterbacks and neither were names James Blackman so it seems they are moving on from that.
They were actually able to run the ball really well in the game but you have to factor in the opponent. Stylistically I would look for that though. Norvell’s teams at Memphis were always strong running the ball.
Florida State has become a team I don’t want any part of right now. They are just way too unpredictable.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame might be 2-0 but they have not really been tested. Their game a couple of weeks ago against Wake Forest got postponed and the last time we saw them they beat up South Florida 52-0.
Quarterback Ian Book has looked alright. It is hard to tell if he has gotten any better this season. He is basically a game manager which probably gets them through every team on the schedule, except for Clemson.
The defense has been sharp early but the schedule has not been very challenging. Again this looks like a pretty easy one. though FSU does have enough athletes that perhaps someone breaks a play or two.
The Irish always get the benefit of the doubt but I would like to see more on the field. This might have been a fun one way back when but right now it is just business for the Irish.
