To open things up in week 0, the Florida A&M Rattlers will be on the road to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.
With no real surprise, the Tar Heels are a huge favorite and that number is currently sitting at 34.5. Right now, the total is listed at 55.5 in most spots I have seen.
The kickoff in this ball game is set for 8:15 ET from Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
This game will be the first time these two programs have ever gone up against each other.
Mack Brown will look for his squad to start off in the right direction with a soft landing before the schedule does get trickier for them.
Florida A&M Rattlers
The Rattlers are in for a big challenge off the bat when they have to take on this FBS opponent. Not a lot of people are very high on them in this one and it is hard to blame them.
This is a team that did win nine games a year ago, but it is always important to remember what kinds of competition they were facing. It is fair to say they have not seen anyone on the level of UNC in a while.
Unless they really play differently than people believe, the Rattlers are viewed as a team that could be decent this season, but there are not any huge expectations surrounding this squad for the 2022 season.
Jeremy Moussa will be starting under center for the opener which did come to the surprise of some folks who thought it would be Resean Mckay who threw for 22 touchdowns and 5 picks a year ago but did struggle with accuracy. There is a good chance that both guys will get playing time this season, but the transfer from Vanderbilt will be getting the nod here.
This is a situation where Florida A&M is trying to shock the whole football world because almost nobody really believes in them here. Of course, they are playing the game to win it, but they should be thrilled if they even keep the game anywhere near competitive.
North Carolina Tar Heels
A season ago, North Carolina had very high expectations heading into the season, but they did not come anywhere near reaching them and they ended up being a very big disappointment.
Mack Brown and anyone else for that matter within this program can say they are confident in this bunch and feel good about the 2022 season, but they still have to go out there and show it. I would agree there should be some optimism surrounding them, but that is only one piece of it.
A big question mark for the Tar Heels this year was how they were going to replace quarterback Sam Howell and they will be going with Drake Maye. The new collegiate QB does have some very big shoes to fill but has plenty of upsides including a strong arm and good frame.
Star receiver Josh Downs is back this season and will likely be one of Maye’s favorite targets in no time. In 2021, he was able to record more than 100 receptions and more than 1,300 receiving yards. This duo should be awfully fun to watch this season and it would not shock me if they put up some ridiculous numbers in the opener.
One big loss for this group is running back British Brooks who will be gone for the entire season. Given how the remaining backs look for them, it could be a backfield by committee type of situation for the Tar Heels this year. There is no question that could be a part of their game that is quite lacking this season.

4* Free Florida A&M vs. North Carolina NCAA Betting Final Analysis:
Look, North Carolina is still a team that has plenty of questions surrounding them, but I look for them to start off the season in a strong way.
They are much more skilled in all the important areas and I just think they will be way too much for the Rattlers to handle when all is said and done.
New defensive coordinator Gene Chizik understands he is not facing great competition, but he still wants to start off well on that side of the ball and I do not see him letting up at all.
Although it will be the first start for Maye at UNC, I expect him to be just fine and there is a very good chance the offense is nice and free-flowing. The connection between him and Downs should be one to watch for.
It is certainly a big number, but I like the Heels laying it as I just do not see this thing being all that close on Saturday.
