Rattlers vs. Hurricanes Gameday
Week 2 of the 2026 college football season opens Thursday night with Florida A&M visiting No. 7 Miami at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on ACC Network. This will be Miami’s home opener after beginning the season on the West Coast.
Florida A&M enters at 1-1 after losing 31-13 to No. 22 South Carolina State in Sunday’s Orange Blossom Classic. The Rattlers opened their season with a 20-7 victory over Albany State.
Miami opened with a 39-point road win and now gets an FCS opponent at home.
The Hurricanes couldn’t have asked for a much stronger start. Miami went to Stanford and rolled to a 45-6 victory behind a huge performance from quarterback Darian Mensah. The Hurricanes scored touchdowns on each of their first four possessions.
These teams last met in 2024, when Miami rolled to a 56-9 victory at Hard Rock Stadium. Florida A&M is back in the same building only four days after playing South Carolina State there.

Florida A&M Rattlers vs. Miami Hurricanes Odds & Last 5
Miami opened as a massive favorite, with the Hurricanes laying 53.5 points and Florida A&M getting the same number. The early total was 61.5, creating an unusual betting decision with Miami expected to supply most of the scoring.
Florida A&M has already played twice this season.
The Rattlers beat Albany State 20-7 before falling 31-13 to South Carolina State on Sunday. Miami has played only once, but its 45-6 demolition of Stanford immediately justified its No. 7 ranking. The Hurricanes are now laying more than seven touchdowns in their home opener.
Hurricanes Stats
Miami’s offense exploded in its opener, finishing with 555 total yards against Stanford. The Hurricanes threw for 428 yards while adding 127 on the ground. More importantly, Miami turned that production into 45 points and controlled the game almost immediately.
Darian Mensah was nearly flawless in his Hurricanes debut.
Mensah completed 27 of 30 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Malachi Toney was his favorite target, catching 12 passes for a Miami single-game record 234 yards and three scores. Cooper Barkate added another touchdown reception.
The running game wasn’t nearly as explosive.
Mark Fletcher Jr. led Miami with 40 yards on 13 carries, while CharMar Brown added 37 yards and a touchdown. The Hurricanes didn’t need much from the ground game because Mensah consistently attacked Stanford through the air.
Miami’s defense was equally impressive in the opener. Stanford managed only two field goals and never reached the end zone. The Hurricanes allowed 221 passing yards, held the Cardinal to 75 rushing yards and kept them scoreless throughout the second half.

Rattlers Stats
Florida A&M has already experienced both sides of the scoreboard this season. The Rattlers beat Albany State 20-7 in their opener before South Carolina State handed them a 31-13 loss Sunday. That leaves FAMU at 1-1 entering its toughest matchup yet.
The offense had a rough afternoon against South Carolina State.
Florida A&M finished with only 161 total yards and 10 first downs. The biggest issue was the running game, which officially finished with minus-1 yard on 30 attempts after sacks were included. FAMU also failed to score an offensive touchdown.
Isaiah Knowles handled most of the quarterback work against the Bulldogs.
Knowles completed 11 of 20 passes for 94 yards before Dustin Fletcher also saw action. Jamal Hailey was held to 13 rushing yards, while Kieren Jackson led the Rattlers with 69 receiving yards. Justin Bostic supplied FAMU’s only touchdown on an 80-yard interception return.
The defense looked much better in the opener against Albany State, recording 10 sacks and 16 tackles for loss. South Carolina State was a different story, rushing for 292 yards and four touchdowns. Miami represents another major jump in offensive talent.

Rattlers vs. Hurricanes QB Matchup
Darian Mensah enters his second Miami start after putting together one of the biggest performances of opening weekend. The Duke transfer completed 27 of 30 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns. He didn’t throw an interception or take a sack.
Mensah immediately looked comfortable running Miami’s offense.
His connection with Malachi Toney was particularly difficult for Stanford to handle. Toney accounted for 234 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Mensah completed passes to seven different Hurricanes. Luke Nickel handled the late work and finished 3-of-5 for 27 yards with an interception.
Florida A&M’s quarterback situation looks considerably different from the original projection.
Isaiah Knowles has handled most of the Rattlers’ passing work through two games. He threw for 190 yards in the 20-7 win over Albany State before finishing with 94 yards against South Carolina State. Dustin Fletcher also played late in Sunday’s loss.
Knowles now faces a Miami defense that kept Stanford out of the end zone. FAMU’s protection and running game will need to improve dramatically to keep him out of obvious passing situations. Miami enters Thursday with a substantial advantage at quarterback.
Florida A&M Rattlers vs. Miami Hurricanes bottom line: Miami owns a major talent and quarterback advantage, while FAMU needs a much better offensive performance to keep the game competitive.
Florida A&M Rattlers vs. Miami Hurricanes Football Betting Trends

- Miami is 21-4 straight up in their last 25 games as favorites.

Rattlers Hurricanes Free Pick: Under 61.5
Here is my Rattlers Hurricanes free pick: I’m playing the Under 61.5 Thursday night. Miami may be capable of doing most of the scoring itself, but I’m betting the game script eventually works against that happening.
FAMU’s 161-yard performance against South Carolina State matters here because Miami represents another jump in competition. The Rattlers also finished with minus-1 rushing yard, and that lack of a ground game makes sustained drives against this defense difficult to picture.
Miami should have its way early.
The bigger the Hurricanes’ halftime lead gets, the better I like this Under.
Mensah threw five touchdowns against Stanford, so Miami certainly has the firepower to threaten this number. But if he’s already done his damage by halftime, there’s no reason for the Hurricanes to spend four quarters attacking like they did in the opener.
That’s my betting angle. Miami can shorten the second half with the running game and backups while FAMU struggles to provide enough scoring from the other side.
Even something like 45-10 gives the Hurricanes another complete blowout and leaves us six-plus points of breathing room. I don’t need FAMU to get shut out.
Miami rolls, but my free pick is Under 61.5.
