Blue Devils vs. Yellow Jackets Gameday
The Duke Blue Devils visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM ET on ESPN2 in this Week 6 ACC matchup.
Duke enters 4-0 under Manny Diaz and sits at No. 23 in the Coaches Poll.
The Blue Devils have carried their momentum from last season into an unbeaten start, establishing themselves as one of the conference’s more reliable teams. Georgia Tech is 1-3 under Brent Key, with its only victory coming against Mercer. The Jackets have struggled with consistency, and another conference loss would leave them facing a particularly uncomfortable climb.
Unbeaten Duke visits an injury-hit Georgia Tech team desperate to rescue its season before October gets ugly.
The Jackets have won five consecutive meetings, including a 27-18 victory in Durham last season. They lead the all-time series 56-35-1.
There’s another concern hanging over this matchup, and it isn’t wearing a helmet. Hurricane Isaias threatens heavy rain, strong winds and possible thunderstorms in Atlanta on Saturday. Georgia Tech expects the game to proceed as scheduled, but the weather could become a significant factor.
It’s Week 6, Duke Blue Devils vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Duke Blue Devils vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Odds & Last 5
Duke opened as a seven-point road favorite at -269 on the moneyline, with Georgia Tech getting +7 and priced at +218. The game total is 49.5 points.
The Blue Devils demolished William & Mary 62-7 in their latest outing.
They previously defeated Stanford 35-7, Illinois 31-27 and Tulane 17-3, showing an ability to handle different types of opponents. Georgia Tech fell 34-27 at Stanford after beating Mercer 44-11. Earlier losses to Tennessee and Colorado contributed to a frustrating opening month for Key’s team.
Duke has covered the spread in all four games, while Georgia Tech has yet to cover. That contrast helps explain why the Blue Devils are favored away from home.
Both teams had a bye week before this matchup, providing extra preparation time.
Duke has the stronger results, but Georgia Tech gets the benefit of familiar surroundings and an opportunity to make adjustments. Compare prices at your preferred sportsbooks before placing a wager. Betting a bad number because you couldn’t spend 30 seconds shopping around is an expensive hobby.

Yellow Jackets Stats
Georgia Tech has scored 108 points through four games, averaging 27 per contest. Its passing attack has generated 975 yards, although the offense has struggled to establish a consistent rhythm.
Justice Haynes leads the ground game with 393 rushing yards and three TD’s.
His production has been one of the brighter spots for an offense that hasn’t received dependable blocking across the board.
Georgia Tech needs more than occasional big plays to keep its offense functioning against Duke’s disciplined defense.
The Jackets have surrendered 104 points, including an average of 189 rushing yards per game. Their defensive front has struggled to close running lanes, forcing the linebackers and secondary into difficult situations. Georgia Tech has recorded six sacks and one interception.
Those numbers reflect a defense that hasn’t consistently created the disruptive plays needed to compensate for its other weaknesses.
Injuries have added to the problem. Defensive linemen Syeed Jones and Amontrae Hoffler, offensive lineman E.J. MacKenny and safety Steven Riley have been listed out. Key needs his available players to execute better, particularly in the trenches.
Blue Devils Stats
Duke has scored 145 points, averaging more than 36 per game. The Blue Devils have rushed for 974 yards, giving Diaz a dependable offensive foundation.
Nate Sheppard has been outstanding, collecting 644 rushing yards and six TD’s.
His physical running style helps Duke stay ahead of the chains and control possession. Jeremiah Hasley leads the receiving group with 195 yards. Jonah Burton has also contributed, providing another option when defenses commit extra attention to the ground attack.
The Blue Devils have allowed only 44 points through four games. Their defense has produced 11 sacks and consistently forced opponents into difficult situations.
Duke’s offensive line has surrendered just one sack.
That protection has helped the offense avoid negative plays and maintain a balanced approach. Wide receiver Qeanu Johnson has been listed out with an undisclosed injury. The Blue Devils still have enough depth to distribute opportunities, although the coaching staff will need to account for any additional absences.
Blue Devils vs. Yellow Jackets QB Matchup
Georgia Tech relies on Alberto Mendoza, who has completed 84 of 123 passes for 975 yards, six TD’s and three interceptions. He has demonstrated the ability to generate offense through the air, but inconsistent protection has contributed to some difficult outings.
Mendoza threw for 268 yards and two TD’s against Stanford.
His ability to make throws under pressure will be important against a Duke defense that has consistently disrupted opposing backfields. Duke counters with Walker Eget, who has completed 58 of 93 passes for 721 yards, six TD’s and one interception. The former San Jose State transfer has handled the starting role effectively without needing to dominate every possession.
Eget benefits from a productive backfield and reliable pass protection. His biggest responsibility is making sound decisions and avoiding unnecessary risks.

Mendoza has been asked to shoulder a heavier passing workload, while Eget operates with more offensive balance.
Both have demonstrated the ability to punish mistakes in coverage. Grady Adamson provides depth behind Mendoza. Duke has Dan Mahan available in reserve, and he has contributed three passing TD’s this season.
The potential for difficult weather adds another challenge for both QB’s. Ball security, footwork and decision-making could become particularly important if conditions deteriorate.
Duke Blue Devils vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets bottom line: Duke’s superior rushing production and defensive consistency challenge a Georgia Tech team looking for answers on both sides of the football.

Blue Devils Yellow Jackets Free Pick: Over 49.5
Here is my Blue Devils Yellow Jackets free pick: Over 49.5. I’m not asking Georgia Tech to suddenly become an offensive powerhouse. Duke can do the heavy lifting here, and a 34-17 final gets us paid.
The Jackets don’t have to win the game, cover the spread or make anybody forget their miserable start.
What interests me is the mismatch in the trenches. Duke should be able to move the chains and finish drives, and sustained possessions can still produce points without a parade of 50-yard TD’s. Georgia Tech also has to account for the possibility of playing from behind, which could open up some scoring chances as the afternoon progresses.
I’m backing Duke to set the scoring pace and Georgia Tech to contribute enough to get this game into the 50s.
Now for the headache: Hurricane Isaias could bring heavy rain and nasty winds to Atlanta. That’s a legitimate concern for an Over, particularly if the passing game becomes an adventure in ball security. But a wet field doesn’t automatically eliminate scoring, and Duke has a path to productive drives without needing perfect throwing conditions.
I like the number, although I’ll be watching the weather right up to kickoff.
If conditions remain playable, give me Over 49.5. The forecast can keep its drama; I’d prefer the touchdowns.
