This is a tough spot for the Rams.
They are not a great team but they played Boise State pretty well last week, especially late when they closed the gap. They lost the game but perhaps they can parlay that momentum into this one.
UNLV is having a pretty good season, for UNLV.
They have a great chance of having a winning record in the Mountain West. Right now the only team that has beat them is San Diego State. Their offense should be able to score on the Rams.
Colorado State Rams
The Rams are looking to get back to winning this week.
With three wins already banked they have a great shot to become bowl eligible this season, even with starting QB Colin Hill now out for the season.
Fortunately they have a ready replacement in Nick Stevens, last year’s starter. He was mistake free against Boise State last week and gives them a great chance to win. Hopefully he has learned from his time on the bench.
Colorado State is steady but unspectacular on defense.
They did a good job holding Boise State to just 28 points last week even if they did give up 200+ yards to RB Jeremy McNichols. UNLV is trying to ramp things up on offense but they are not where Boise is.
Colorado State should be able to slow them down enough to win.
UNLV Running Rebels
The Rebels are coming off a solid win at Hawaii. The Rainbows are improved this season and that is a tough trip to make.
The only result that leaves you wondering about UNLV was that home loss to Idaho.
They are looking to finish second in the MWC West but they don’t have any gimmes on the schedule. They are on the rise but they are certainly fighting for their spot in the MWC.
The best thing about the Rebels is how they run the ball – they are 17th in the nation. Lexington Thomas leads the way but with 601 yards but they have two other backs with more than 250 yards thus far.
QB Johnny Stanton is just a frosh and needs to put on some bulk but he is good with the ball in his hands.
He had a great game running and throwing against Hawaii.
He is bound to have his ups and downs though because he does not have much experience.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction
The number is saying that the only difference between these teams is the location of the game. That seems right by conventional logic but I think UNLV is trending upward this season and now might be a time to cash.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: UNLV -2.5
A frosh QB without much experience is never a great pick but the kid can run and CSU is not exactly a terrifying defense. I think he can build off his last game and get the Rebels to .500 with a win. Love the short number, should be an easy win.
