This matchup features the Mocs traveling to Alabama to face the Crimson Tide.
Chattanooga lost to Wofford last week and Alabama is the #1 team in the country at 10-0.
This is another SEC traditional “pay to slay” game, so this one should be over by halftime.
Chattanooga won’t be pulling any upsets in this one.
Alejandro Bennifield faces an Alabama defense after throwing 4 touchdowns in the loss to Wofford. This game will be in Tuscaloosa with over 100,000 in attendance, so expect the big stage to be too much for the QB.
He will throw for under 100 yards and throw 4 interceptions in the game.
Running back Derrick Craine faces arguably the best Alabama defense Nick Saban has ever had.
The defensive line is loaded with some of the best pass rushers in the country, and the linebacking corps is faster than anything Chattanooga has seen in years.
The tailback will be held under 35 yards rushing, and the offense as a whole might not make it into the red zone this game.
The Mocs lost a tough game last week, and this game won’t be any easier.
The team is having its best season historically, but they face the Alabama Death Star, and the defense will give up at least 50 points to a very talented offense.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama is clearly the best team in the country. They can score through the air, on the ground, with their defense, and through special teams.
Only 3 games stand in their way of another college football playoff, and I expect them to get there.
Jalen Hurts is the best QB to play under Nick Saban, no disrespect to John Parker Wilson. He has the talent to make all of the throws for
Saban and Kiffin, and can run the ball as well as any dual threat QB in the country. I expect him to play the first half, and still finish with over 300 total yards and 5 touchdowns.
Powering the Alabama running game with Hurts last week was true freshman Joshua Jacobs. He had 89 yards rushing and 31 yards receiving against the Mississippi St Bulldogs.
I expect him to get plenty of carries in this game and finish with over 200 yards rushing if Saban lets him play the entire game. If he decides to go with another young player then expect the freshman to get the reps in the first half.
The Crimson Tide defense is excellent. Their defensive line can easily pick up 4 sacks a game against good SEC offensive lines, so
Chattanooga should give up at least 6 in this game. The Crimson Tide turn takeaways into points, and I expect another non offensive touchdown from them this week.
The special teams unit lost a key player last week, but it won’t slow down their effectiveness. There will be at least one punt or kick return touchdown in this game, and it should be over by halftime.
