BYU has ridden a 7-0 record to start the season to the #9 ranking in the country. The Cougars have been at least 2 TD favorites in five of those wins however.
Boise State has a great chance to add some legitimacy to their 2-0 start with a win over the Cougars at home on Friday night. The Broncos have been at least -13 favorites in both of their blowout victories.
BYU Cougars
BYU has been a big favorite in a majority of their games, but they’ve also toppled Navy 55-3 in the season opener as a -1 point favorite and beat Houston 43-26 in week 7, both on the road.
Regardless of opponent, the Cougars offense has been outstanding this season in scoring 40+ points in 6 of 7 games. BYU ranks 6th in the country in yards/game (530.9) but they’ve been diverse in accomplishing that.

QB Zach Wilson is the face of the Cougars, and he’s been great with 19 TD to just 2 INTs on the year. Wilson has 11 TD and 1 INT in the last three games alone. Tyler Allgaier also has a rushing TD in 5 straight and 6 of 7 games this year.
The Boise State defense has posted the #1 passing defense in the country, but that can be taken with a grain of salt considering their competition. One of those foes was Air Force, who ran the ball 66 times last week and threw it 7 times.
Boise State Broncos
The Boise State defense might actually be looking forward to facing a more conventional offense after Air Force compiled 415 yards on the ground last week. The Broncos still notched the 49-30 road win as -13 favorites though.
Utah State also compiled 111 yards on the ground in their opener against Boise though. The Aggies had just 92 yards through the air however, the first of two opponents that haven’t broken 100 yards passing vs. BSU.
Wilson is going to lead BYU to some points on Friday night, can the Boise State offense provide the counter punch? The Broncos have gained at least 170 rush yards in both their games, but BSU is facing some QB issues.
Hank Bachmeier 20/28 for 268 and 3 TD in the opener vs. Utah State, but the sophomore missed the last game for unspecified reasons. USC graduate transfer Jack Sears was 17/20 for 280 yards and 3 TD vs. Air Force last week.
