ACC Atlantic rivals square off this weekend when Boston College visits the Louisville Cardinals. Last season the Eagles, led by Anthony Brown and AJ Dillon, dominated Louisville from home, 38-20.
Though, the biggest storyline heading into today’s game is who will start at quarterback for the Cardinals. Starter Jawon Pass and capable backup Malik Cunningham are both listed as questionable with various lower body injuries.

Both teams are coming off recent losses. Louisville lost pace with Florida State 35-24. Meanwhile, Boston College dropped a hard-fought 27-24 scrap vs. undefeated Wake Forest.
Boston College Eagles
Entering today’s contest, the Eagles have beaten Virginia Tech, Richmond and Rutgers by underwhelming margins. And while BC played the Deacons tough, they were blown out 48-24 at Kansas.
That win was the Jayhawks’ first road victory over a power five school in 11 years. Kansas has since dropped two straight, including a recent 51-14 drubbing vs. TCU -those losses further indict an uncertain Eagles bunch.
As expected, however, quarterback Anthony Brown (eight touchdowns, two interceptions, 1,057 passing yards) and AJ Dillon (627 rushing yards, six touchdowns) have carried the Eagles.
Though, after losing much of last year’s productivity, and failing to recruit effectively, Boston College is letdown prone, i.e. the Kansas loss.
If the Eagles can steal a road victory today, given their circumstances, it would be surprising to some. But, if the same Boston College squad which pushed Wake to the brink last week shows up this afternoon, another win vs. Louisville is attainable.

Whatever the outcome, at least as of Tuesday morning it is known Anthony Brown will be behind center come Saturday.
Louisville Cardinals
Unfortunately, as mentioned, the status of Louisville’s top passers remain clouded. That isn’t good news for a team which relies heavily on its aerial attack.
Further, the Cardinals took care of business earlier this year vs. Western and Eastern Kentucky. Although, FSU and Notre Dame made easy work of Louisville.
Considering that, and after winning just two games in 2018, with a current dicy quarterback scenario, the spread may be a tad inflated this week in Louisville’s favor.
If Pass and Cunningham remain sidelined, emergency freshman quarterback Evan Conley is likely to get the call behind center.
Conley has thrown just three collegiate passes.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick
If Conley starts, UL will commit too many mistakes to hold off BC at home. And even if either Pass, who has sat the last two weeks, or Cunningham open, victory is far from guaranteed for this Louisville squad which flopped one season ago.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Boston College ATS and Total Under
Without knowing who, exactly, will take UL’s snaps, it’s safe to assume lead back Javian Hawkins’ work load should increase today. Hawkins will need another 100 yard day, like he had in week one vs. Notre Dame, for Louisville to fight off Brown and Dillon’s attack.
Expect a decent offensive showing from both teams today, just not at the level the oddsmakers have set. Behind its stars, Boston College wins today.
