Here’s why I’m backing a Boise State ATS bet below in my Broncos Bulldogs free pick & gambling prediction for this matchup.
Broncos vs. Bulldogs Gameday
The No. 23 Boise State Broncos visit the Fresno State Bulldogs at Valley Children’s Stadium on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Kickoff is set for 10:30 PM ET on The CW. Both teams are 4-1, and neither has lost since opening weekend.
Boise State is 1-1 away from home under Spencer Danielson.
The Broncos have bounced back impressively from their opening defeat at Oregon. Their next assignment is a conference road trip against a familiar rival with an irritating habit of ruining Boise’s plans. Apparently, winning four straight isn’t enough to earn a quiet Saturday.
Two unbeaten conference records and a rivalry trophy make this more than another Saturday night football game.
Fresno State is 2-0 at home under Matt Entz. Both teams enter 1-0 in Pac-12 play.
The Bulldogs have won three consecutive meetings, including a 30-7 victory in November 2025.
Boise still leads the all-time series 17-10. Fresno will have its Homecoming crowd behind it, with the Milk Can trophy again on the line. Nobody should expect much hospitality once the ball is kicked.
It’s Week 6, Boise State Broncos vs. Fresno State Bulldogs, hopefully we get a great matchup.

Boise State Broncos vs. Fresno State Bulldogs Odds & Last 5
Boise State opened as a 6.5-point favorite with a -241 moneyline. Fresno State was listed at +200, with the total set at 48.5.
It’s a meaningful number for a road favorite facing an opponent with an identical record.
Boise defeated Utah State 37-18 last weekend. The Broncos also beat Western Michigan 32-7 and South Dakota 38-24 during their current winning streak. Their lone defeat came against Oregon, 34-27.
Fresno State beat Washington State 26-6 in Pullman. The Bulldogs scored 20 unanswered points after halftime and didn’t allow a TD.
Fresno also owns victories over Rice and San Jose State.
Boise has generally been the stronger first-half team, while Fresno has done considerable damage after the break. That contrast could make live betting interesting. Compare the latest prices at your preferred sportsbooks before getting involved.

Bulldogs Stats
Fresno State has scored 139 points through five games, with 1,067 passing yards and approximately 780 rushing yards. The Bulldogs have collected 89 first downs. Their offense has been productive without consistently overwhelming opponents.
Rayshon Luke leads the rushing attack with 286 yards, although he left the Washington State game injured.
Bryson Donelson has added 206 rushing yards and four TD’s. Josiah Freeman leads the receivers with 25 catches for 322 yards and two TD’s.
Fresno’s defense has allowed 82 points while recording 14 sacks. The Bulldogs have also produced seven interceptions and four fumble recoveries. That takeaway production is enough to make any opposing offensive coordinator double-check his blood pressure.
Creating negative plays has become a significant part of Fresno’s identity.
The Bulldogs can disrupt protection schemes and force opponents into uncomfortable down-and-distance situations. They’ll need that pressure against a Boise offense capable of controlling possession.
Brandon Ramirez remains sidelined for the season. Luke’s availability also deserves attention following his early exit last weekend.
Broncos Stats
Boise State has scored 172 points while generating more than 1,100 rushing yards through five games. The Broncos have also produced 1,058 passing yards.
Dylan Riley leads the backfield with 685 rushing yards and five TD’s.
Riley has given Boise a reliable foundation on early downs. He’s averaging more than six yards per carry, which is a convenient way to avoid third-and-long. Defensive coordinators generally prefer their headaches to be smaller.
Boise’s ground game will test a Fresno defense that has made disruption its calling card.
Tight end Matt Wagner has become another dependable offensive option. His emergence gives Boise additional flexibility when defenses commit extra attention to the backfield.
The Broncos registered six sacks against Utah State, their highest single-game total in nearly two years.
That pressure could create problems for Fresno’s protection. Boise must also avoid surrendering explosive plays when its defenders become too aggressive.
Receiver Cam Bates is out, along with Darren Morris, Logan Brantley, Carson Rasmussen and Jaden Williams. Rasean Jones, Sam Brooks and Deuce Alailefaleula were listed as questionable in Boise’s initial weekly availability report.
Broncos vs. Bulldogs QB Matchup
Fresno State starts Jayden Mandal, who has passed for 1,034 yards, six TD’s and one interception. He’s attempted 137 passes through five games.
Mandal has been careful with the football, giving Fresno a steady presence behind center.
He completed 24 of 33 passes for 245 yards against Washington State. Fresno doesn’t ask him to force spectacular throws on every possession. That’s generally a sensible policy unless someone is awarding style points.
Backup Khristian Martin has thrown for six yards on two attempts.

Boise State counters with Maddux Madsen, who has thrown for 1,058 yards and 11 TD’s without an interception. He’s attempted 132 passes across five games.
Madsen completed 17 of 21 attempts for 244 yards and two TD’s against Utah State.
His experience shows when defenses crowd the line of scrimmage. He’s willing to take shorter completions rather than forcing the ball into coverage. That patience helps Boise maintain offensive rhythm.
Colt Fulton is listed behind Madsen and hasn’t attempted a pass this season.
Both starters have protected the football well. Mandal has managed Fresno’s offense efficiently, while Madsen has been more productive finishing possessions through the air. Third-down execution could determine which QB spends more time watching from the sideline.
Boise State Broncos vs. Fresno State Bulldogs bottom line: Boise’s productive rushing attack and experienced passing game give the Broncos an edge, although Fresno’s aggressive defense makes this rivalry anything but routine.
Boise State Broncos vs. Fresno State Bulldogs Football Betting Trends
- The Broncos have a strong record as favorites, winning 28 of their last 30 games.
- When Boise State plays after a win, they have won 23 of their last 28 games.
- Also, the Bulldogs have covered the spread in all four of their games this season.
- Fresno State has won all four of their games this season.
- Additionally, Boise State has covered the spread 18 times in their last 30 games as favorites.
- The Bulldogs have a solid record at home, winning 19 of their last 24 games.
Broncos Bulldogs Free Pick: Broncos -6.5
Here is my Broncos Bulldogs free pick: Boise State -6.5. The Broncos have won 28 of their last 30 games as favorites, covering 18 times in that stretch. I’ll take that track record at a number below a TD, even against a rival that has been a persistent pain in Boise’s backside.
My favorite angle is the difference between winning this game and covering it. Boise doesn’t need a blowout, but it does need to make Fresno chase the scoreboard instead of letting the Bulldogs dictate the final 15 minutes.
That means turning early opportunities into TD’s.
Boise’s best path to covering is building an early cushion and making Fresno abandon its preferred pace.
Fresno has covered all four games in the supplied ATS trend, so the home underdog deserves respect. I’m not paying extra for the Boise ranking or pretending the Milk Can comes with a complimentary seven-point lead.
What I like is Boise’s ability to protect a lead by staying aggressive rather than simply running out the clock. Fresno’s comeback ability is a concern, but forcing the Bulldogs into longer, higher-risk possessions should eventually create separation.
There’s also a revenge element after last season’s ugly result. That isn’t enough to make a bet by itself, but it gives Boise another reason not to coast once it gets ahead.
I’m expecting a competitive first half before the Broncos pull away late. Give me Boise State -6.5.
