The Baylor Bears look to improve to 4 – 1, after an impressive 26 – 7 win over Kansas last weekend. Well, as impressive as a win over Kansas could be, because the Jayhawks are still a complete mess.
Not only have the Bears gotten off to a 3 – 1 start, but amazingly they have been favored in all four games this season. I know, right?!
The Bears won’t have that much respect from the line setters this weekend in Norman, as they come out as +23 underdogs against Oklahoma on the road.
The Oklahoma Sooners are still adjusting to life without their big weapon in the offensive back field. Rodney Anderson’s knee injury ended his 2018 Junior campaign after a stellar Sophomore season. Anderson put up well over 1,000 rushing yards, and scored 18 overall TDs for the Sooners a season ago.
Trey Sermon is expected to carry the lion’s share of the football for the Sooners as they progress through Big XII play.
There’s this guy, see? << That’s my best Bogey impression; Anyway, his name is Charlie Brewer and if you haven’t seen enough of him yet, I am sorry. There are dual-threat QB’s all around NCAA football, and then there is Charlie! There hasn’t been this much excitement in Waco, Texas, since Chip and Joanna Gaines opened their bakery downtown.
Seriously, the fans in Waco got to enjoy #10 when he was tearing apart the Big XII, and now they have #12 to admire. Even in the lone loss for the Bears to Duke this season, it was a poor running game and certainly not on Charlie Brewer alone. Remember now, four of these five offensive linemen were returning starters entering the campaign, so there is more expectation than 130 total rushing yards against Duke.
Let’s throw in the social presence that Charlie has, and how positive of an influence he is in the Waco community. That stands for a lot to everyone who supports him, the Bears, and the landscape of college football in this region.
Luckily, the Bears are catching the Sooners after playing a physical, overtime game against Army a week ago. That can certainly give a big underdog, as the Bears are, something to hope has an influence on this weekend’s game.
If you’re still unsure of how Sooners QB Kyler Murray will impact this year’s team, let me answer any questions you may have. Look out below, because the dude is about to give the Sooners two years of stability. You may see the Sooner’s schedule, so far, as relatively navigable, but don’t let this past weekend’s result with Army throw you off. The Cadets are no cupcakes, and they obviously gave the Sooners quite a scare this past Saturday, taking Oklahoma to overtime.
Murray will certainly hope to out-do his counterpart for the Bears, because Charlie Brewer is going to bring his best effort to Norman this weekend.
The Sooner defense better sure-up, and hopefully get some bodies back, because injuries have certainly affected the Sooner back field this year. The Sooners defense is ranked 81st against the run, and 77th in total yards allowed.
Oh, and to make matters a little more complicated, Oklahoma has the Longhorns coming to Norman after this matchup with Baylor. It’s ‘Red’, it’s a ‘River’, and that’s a rivalry on deck that I think we all recognize as rather large.
Granted, there are two different QBs in this game than there was last year in the 49 – 41 barn-burner in Waco, but this game still sets up as an offensive shoot out in Norman.

If you think Army gave Oklahoma a battle then wait until you get a load of the Bears vs. Oklahoma game this weekend. Not only do we have an outrageous spread to enjoy, but the total will be a fun option too.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: The line reveals the Sooners as -23 point favorites, with a 68.5 on the total.
The Play: No, that would be both plays, because we have a 2-for-1 situation on our hands. I know that isn’t usually what goes on here, but I have no issue suggesting two plays.
First of all, seeing a +23 almost made me spit out my soup, because that simply makes no sense. The Bears are going to MORE THAN hang around with the Sooners on Saturday, and covering won’t be an issue at any point of this game.
You’re taking Baylor to cover the +23, and you better damn well attach that Over 68.5 to your betting slips. You’ll see why when you check out my final score prediction right now!
