This years’ Celebration Bowl will see the Alcorn State Braves take on the North Carolina A&T Aggies.
This is the one FCS bowl game between the SWAC and the MEAC conferences.
These teams met last year in this bowl game as well. North Carolina A&T won the game 24-22.
Alcorn State Braves
The Braves had a nice season for being a FCS level program. They just won the SWAC conference title by beating Southern 39-24. It was an interception returned for a touchdown with just over a minute that sealed the deal for the Braves.

Leading the way for Alcorn State this season has been their quarterback, Felix Harper. He has thrown for 2,613 yards, while throwing 30 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The Braves average 244.5 passing yards per game. This ranks 39th in the FCS.
The Braves have had a ton of offensive success this season, averaging 32.8 points per game. This is the 26th best scoring offense at the FCS level. They also rush for an average of 158.3 yards per game, which ranks outside the top 50 FCS teams.
Defensively, the Braves have been average at best. They are allowing a total of 336.1 yards per game, which is the 22nd best defense. That being said, they allow 198.3 yards per game through the air and 137.8 yards on the ground. Both of these rank in the 30’s.
Just like in the game against Southern, the Braves must force some turnovers. They also returned a kickoff for a touchdown and will likely need a big special teams play in this bowl game as well.
North Carolina A&T
The Aggies finished the season with three losses, which actually means they did worse than last season. Their last game was all the way back on November 23rd when they beat down North Carolina Central 54-0.
Now the Aggies have a pretty solid offensive unit this season, averaging 430.8 total yards per game.

This is the 25th best overall offense in FCS. However, the passing game is lacking as they average 193.8 yards per game. Their quarterback, Kylil Carter, has only thrown for 1,831 yards this season. He has also thrown for 12 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions, so he at the very least does a nice job managing the game.
Their rushing offense however is where the Aggies do most of their damage. They are averaging 237 yards per game on the ground. This is the 11th best rushing offense in FCS. Led by Jah-Maine Martin, who has 1,136 yards rushing, and 18 touchdowns. The crazy part is he is averaging 8.4 yards per carry.
As for the defense, the Aggies have the best unit in the FCS. Allowing a total of 270.4 yards per game is ranked 1st. Their pass defense allows 194 yards per game, which ranks 26th. However, their rush defense allow only 76.4 yards per game, which is 4th.
The biggest key for the Aggies is establishing the run. As mentioned, they do not have much of a passing offense, so running the ball is how they will win this game.
