We have reached week five of the college football season and in this game it’s a showdown between two teams who are looking for their first win. The Akron Zips make the trip to Amhert to take on the UMass Minutemen.
This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2015.
Akron Zips
The Arkon Zips have had their struggles to start the season and it really hasn’t been because they have been playing an overly difficult schedule.

The games haven’t been easy either, but they really haven’t been competitive in any of the games and it could be a long season, especially if they don’t win this game.

The defense has been terrible, but the offense hasn’t been much better, and in this game it’s going to be key the offense gets better.
The passing game has been okay led by Kato Nelson, but they are only averaging 46 yards per game on the ground and it should be an emphasis they start running the ball.
They are facing a bad defensive team, so the offense needs to get early and often and try to run the score in this one.
UMass Minutemen
On the other side of this matchup is the UMass Minutemen who haven’t had a tough schedule, but they are really struggling.
This is a team that lost to Rutgers 48-21 and I am not sure there are many division one teams that the Scarlet Knights could beat.
The biggest issue for the Minutemen is their defense. They are giving up 51.8 points per game and in this game that defense needs to be better.
On the offensive side the big question is who will be starting at quarterback. Andrew Brito is dealing with concussion-like symptoms and if he can’t go it will be Randall West who gets the start.
Both guys have dealt with turnovers and that hasn’t made life any easier on a defense that already has enough issue.
